And lets kick it off by taking them for a ride on sale.

The White Sox will reportedly listen to trade offers for anyone other than their SPs and SS Tim Anderson. Get details at MLB Trade Rumors.

Sox reportedly are sellers. Listening to offers on veteran bats and relievers.

This presumably means Frazier.

Sox are apparently asking for 2 ML-ready prospects + 2 other pieces each for Sale / Quintana.

Other then Gallo, i approve of those targets...

It should be Seager+ from Dodgers not Urias... no need to trade for pitching. we need real hitters.

Those offers seem terrible to me.  Sale would still be able to fetch 2 top prospects in 2018 or 2019.  If a team is going to control Sale's contract for 3.5 years, then it should take a "Herschel Walker" type of package to get him.  It makes no sense to me for a team to give up two top prospects to get Sale this year, have him pitch for a couple of years, and then trade him for a couple of top prospects in 2019.  Basically, they would be getting Sale to pitch for them for 3 years at little or no net difference in prospects.  Why would the Sox give up on having Sale and Quintana locked up at team friendly salaries unless they got 6 or 7 prospects in return.  The Cubs just gave up 4 prospects to get Chapman for half a season.  Getting the rights to Sale for 3.5 years should require 3-4 can't miss prospects, plus a couple other high ceiling guys.  If we give up Sale, we'd better be getting at least one pitcher in return.

My preference is to keep Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Anderson, Abreu, and perhaps Jones and just trade off any other parts as a salary dump and revamp the offense next year through free agency.  With the Sox having those 6 players at team friendly contracts, the window is still open for the Sox to contend for another 2 or 3 years.  If they don't field a competitive team by 2018 or 2019, I would be in favor of doing a complete overhaul at that time.  I basically have no confidence in KW or Hahn to get proper value for Sale or Quintana.

Agree. If Chapman is worth 3 prospects and a horseshoe...Sale is worth at least 5 and 2 rabbits feet...

If we wait until 2018, we'll have nothing left other than Sale and Q to dump, and their value will be drastically lowered, given the end of their contracts. Now is the maximum value we can extract, for those two and and others on the team now. Without a big trade, 2017 is our only slim hope of ever contending for a long long time.

Let's get the BoSox two two prospects (Moncada, Benintendi, one of their catcher prospects, two more medium prospects, and throw in Clay B to fill Sale's shoes the rest of this year.

Then I would keep Q, and hope to add some free agents for 2017.

i Sox are apparently asking for 2 ML-ready prospects + 2 other pieces each for Sale / Quintana.

2 ML ready + 2 others to me reads like Benintendi + Moncada + Torres + McKinnley.

Yankees got a great young talent in Torres, but lets not pretend the rest of what they got is worth a damn, McKinney sucks, warren is being traded back to the yankees after being fairly crappy... and i have never heard of the 4th guy before.

Moncada and Ben are universally ranked as top 1 and top 10 prospects in baseball, and are both considered to be Major League ready right now... lets not compare that to a 19 year high A SS that is at best 3 years away from Major league time.

Same thing with the Astros prospect of Reed and Bergman, both are young hitters that are ready for the majors now... not 3 years from now.

Moncada, Benintendi, Buchholz and Owens would be a good start.

Keep in mind there is no precedent for someone like Sale being traded, in terms of combination of youth, talent and contract. Hahn can ask for the farm and not be out of line.

Headline is a bit misleading, but Sale just needs to shut up and pitch.

That is true but he might not get it -- now or ever. So do you accept a bit of a lesser, yet still very very good package and get younger and (hopefully) plug several holes? Or keep him, still not win and then lose him for much less later? I don't know.

Whether it's Sale or Quintana that goes, I'm getting to the point where I'll be disappointed if a big move doesn't happen this week.

Consider the state of pitching in the ML, someone will pay it. Esp the stros and red sox. both appear to be "all in"

I hope so. I'm ready for a blockbuster that hopefully works in our favor for once.

Dodgers would supposedly part with Arias for Sale, so that would be an interesting trade partner.

Hey, maybe we could get Trayce back... :)

No thanks on Trayce.

Arias and a few other prospects would be a nice package.

‏@Philabucks
@ESPNChiCubs what are the odds Schwarber, Hamell and a couple others for Sale?
3:28 PM - 27 Jul 2016

This could work if the "couple others" are Bryant and Contreras.
