Sox have traded minor league OF Stefan Gartrell to Atlanta (Class AAA Gwinnett) for cash considerations.

I'd say good for Stefan, but I don't see a place for him in Atlanta either.

All we got was cash? Not even a player to be named later? That doesnt sound too good to me

Thanks Blackie, I had not seen that, I knew someone would have to go once Milledge passed waivers. He made it a lot further than I thought he ever would, been a good player.

Mike somebody, on MLBtraderumours.com (I think he's summarizing Ken Rosenthal comments):

Quote
Most expect the White Sox to "snap out of it," but if not, they could be a team to watch as the trade deadline approaches. One GM said Williams is not the type to "sit there in no man's land," so expect some rumblings about free agents to be Mark Buehrle and Edwin Jackson. Some believe Buehrle would only accept a trade to the Cardinals though.
Their most intriguing chips are John Danks and Carlos Quentin, who are under team control as arbitration-eligible players in 2012. Danks could bring a significant return.

If it goes down this way, I'd like to see at least one of Buerhle or Jackson not traded and wind up leaving via free agancy, netting a first-rounder or sandwich pick to blow on Kevin Kouzmanoff three years from now.

Otherwise, could be an interesting haul for these guys, plus maybe Thornton and Beckham.

I would build around Floyd danks and Humber the rest can go. I would demote beckham and keep the tank in  AAA, if were going to suck I'll demote morel as well. Whatever happend to CJ Rutheford?

he sucks, too.  If you're going to rebuild, I'd be inclined to give Morel a long leash.  He's not blocking anyone.

Danks is not going to sign with us. I think he's made that clear by refusing to even discuss a deal with the Sox. It seems he is intent on trying out free agency and if it comes to that someone else will give him more money/years than the Sox. Also, why would he want to sign with our team when we can never score runs for him?

I say KW has to consider trading him if he can get a good haul for him.

After a combined .200/.253/.291 for Birmingham and Charlotte in 2010, C. J. Retherford was released by the CWS at the end of spring training on March 31. 2011.  He's now playing for the Mississippi Braves of the Southern League [Double-A Atlanta Braves club] where he's hitting .179/.267/.299.

Carlos Beltran hit three home rungs against the Rockies, highlighting his revival this season. With the Mets not in contention, it makes sense that they would try to trade him. What sort of return…

Didnt we get him in the Swisher deal? He never became anything but AAA fodder anyways. The Yankees are hurting for pitching anyways

The Nationals are willing to trade setup man Tyler Clippard, but are looking for a center fielder and have their sights on B.J. Upton.

Hey, Juan Pierre can play CF!

Yes, but on gappers that Juan Pierre runs down, you need an extra cutoff man out there.
