Any RF targets?

As bad as our catching is right now, I'd be looking for a guy as well. There is nobody in the minor leagues ready to step up. Collins is terrible so maybe a move there is warranted also. I still don't know what they hell they are waiting for in not bringing Sheets up. Does Eaton have the goods on someone in the Sox organization or something?

Sheets is being called up to replace Vaughn. Catcher upgrade won't happen. Grandal is on base all the time and he's getting paid.

RF has to be target. Haniger would be the guy to go get, but it would be pricey.
A guy like David Peralta might work as well if you felt he could handle RF. He's not bad against righties either.
Arizona is going to be selling and Peralta wouldn't cost much.

Good points. I'm not talking about replacing Grandal, though I'm more referring to Collins. If they can find a decent catcher to replace Collins, it would be an improvement I think.

As for right field, I agree, that Hadinger or Peralta would be good ideas. That is if Sheets is given a decent chance out in right field and doesn't show anything. Signing Eaton to me was a mistake from the beginning.

Someone must have shot Vaughn up with something in his time off. He looked like he was trying to jump out of his skin at the plate today.

RF has to be target.

I can't see Tony giving up on Eaton. I don't think uprgrading RF is going to happen this year even though we all know it should happen. Hope I'm wrong though.

Agreed, we are stuck with Eaton. I will give him some credit for having some big hits this year however. Just not consistent enough.

With Engel back, that could be the case, but Hamilton just hit the IL and somebody has to play CF...

The Diamondbacks are in last place in the NL West, and already seem to be one of the teams who …

I had mentioned Peralta as a candidate that should end up available and apparently he is.
He's off to a meh start, but even his meh start against righties represents an upgrade from most of our lineup against RH pitching.

Absolutely. Just think that cost is going to be prohibitive. Although, Seattle is closer in the West than expected. They might not be sellers until it is too late to get top dollar for him...

Gavin Sheets to the Reds for Nick Castellanos would be nice.   ;D

Nick has an opt-out in his contract which he'll probably exercise at the end of the season.  If Cincinnati falls to 10 games back, it might be doable.

Adam Frazier of the Pirates - potential target...? He has some RF experience (albeit a few years ago) in addition to his 2B experience.

Yolmer has a job.  He's on the Braves Triple-A team.  Adam Frazier would be nice if he didn't cost too much in prospects.  He has 4 years of service time, already makes $4+M in salary so unless the rules change under a new CBA, he's "under club control" for 2022.  t's a gamble though.  With his current OPS+ of 140m the Pirates would probably ask for a minimum top pitching prospect and Gavin Sheets to do a deal right now.  Might be acceptable if Mendick fails in the next 5 weeks but I'd hate to deal away Jared Kelley and Sheets to see Frazier walk away after the season in a new CBA. With the team somewhat comfortably in 1st place, current rostered players deserve the chance to show if they can handle the position before looking elsewhere.  Unless you can pick Frazier up for a bargain price.

Yolmer is on the Braves' AAA team... meaning he's probably going to be cheap. No need to give up any future pieces to make a postseason run this year.

He's slashing quite poorly, so we may not want him back anyways....

If the Braves release him, I wouldn't object to the Sox giving him a chance if Mendick/Garcia struggle at second.  He wouldn't cost much and we already know he's well liked by management and in their clubhouse.  A change of scenery might just work for him again like ii did last season when he joined the Sox after being released by the Giants.

I think that Hahn should be talking to KC right now for a deal for Whit Merrifield. He has one year left on his contract after this season. He is a very good player both offensively and defensively and one of the best base stealers in all of baseball. He can also play right field. With Madrigal out for the season, this would be a good trade for the Sox to make with KC rebuilding and needing prospects. Adding a veteran who knows how to win would also be important to a young team.

Yes. Escobar got held out of the game today and there is a strong rumor that he is going to the White Sox. He's got 15 home runs this season and can pay 2nd, ss and 3B. Do it, please Hahn!!

Rumor has it, the Twinkies are planning or willing to trade their DH Nelson Cruz who's going to be a free agent again after the season.  Are you interested?  What young prospects(s) are you willing to give up for his services?  Why do you think the Twinkies will realistically take for him?  Discuss.

I gotta think the Twins would want more from us since we are rivals in same division. Not sure what they would be asking about, they need young pitching, pretty set in young outfielders. I would think 2 of our better young pitchers in the minors would do it. They will want more but they need to realize he is a rental for 3 months.
