I would try to make the trade, we aren't going to win a WS soon with the current crop.

I would go all the way, add Q, Frazier, Robertson, Duke, and Fulmer

It would be more fun losing badly and to be loaded with top of the line line prospects, then to have what we have now.

And KW has to go.

I would be stunned if they traded Sale.  With the team options, he's signed through 2019 at a very team friendly salary.  Why rush to trade him now?  His trade value would still be high in 2018 or 2019.  If the Sox don't improve over the next couple of years, then I would agree to trade him.  As a reminder, the White Sox are only 3 1/2 games behind KC for the final wild card spot.  They mostly need improvement from Shields and Frazier, both of which I think is likely.  Giving up on the season now would be as bad or worse than the infamous White Flag trade.  If they fall further back by the end of July, then I would agree to trade off some players to get prospects in return, but I wouldn't include Sale in the list of players to trade.

The amount/type of players a team would have to give up to trade for Sale would be a package that would decimate the other team. No team will give up what it would take so I can't see a scenario where Sale gets traded anytime soon.

The odds of trading Sale & getting equal value in return is close to nil.

Even if you were really lucky & got equal value in return you'd just be robbing Peter to pay Paul. What's the point?

Need talent desperately. IF they are giving us Moncada/Espinoza and a couple of smaller pieces, that is a great haul.

Let's just say that trades that don't return equal value are dumb. you apparently disagree.

Sale is, after all. one of the best starters in mlb.

For 3 more years sure. but what value is he to us if the rest of the team sucks.

If you trade him and get back 4-5 pieces that count its a good trade.

it works out to giving up 18 war in the short term and perhaps leveraging it into 40 over 6 years of the pieces you get back.

We have to start the rebuild somewhere.

Agree with abs. You want to start rebuild, trade David Robertson. Can get 2 good prospects for him from a contender needing a closer. Texas might be a trade partner.

They'd probably both have sub-.240 batting averages under the tutelage of Todd Steverson.

If we had picked up a big slug like Mark Trumbo I would have been so pissed, yet here he is in the ASG.

Scott Carroll outrighted to AAA Charlotte. 40-man now at 39.

Corresponding move coming?

Note - Morneau is on the 15-day DL (not 60-day), so he's already on the 40-man.

Sounds like Jacob Turner getting called up (and put on 40-man) to start in Rodon's slot.

The Chicago White Sox have activated first baseman Justin Morneau from the disabled list and promoted top pitching prospect Carson Fulmer from the minor leagues.

Fulmer to be called up, not Turner.

Glad we rushed fulmer up as well.

Fulmer and Rodon are going to make great BP arms at some point.

Not a huge fan of Fulmer move, let him have some success.
