Good stuff Pete. My buddy makes huge blocked ice using boxes. We have a huge homemade cooler that fits in back of one of the pickup trucks. Have ice for the week easily. When we get low on the island, the boat that brings keepers to landing to put on ice will break some chunks off the bigger chunks in the big cooler and fill up a couple nice size coolers. Bring that back to island and we have plenty of ice for beer cooler and cold foods cooler (milk, butter, lunchmeat, cheese etc...).

I've finally given up hope.  If you can't beat the Oakland's and St Louis's you ain't going anywhere, esp when you are 15 under.  The shame of it is that the starting pitching has been pretty good but invariably between the no hit offence and the porous bull pen (where one arm a night decides to have a bad evening) they have lost allot of close games.

But it is what it is.  So I assume they will be sellers later this month.  Who is going to get moved?

Giolito - unrestricted FA at the end of the season; doubt he will resign with the Sox who won't pay him what he's worth and prolly wants to go to a winner anyway?

Lynn - has $18,000,000 club option for 2024.  Not what he used to be but still has flashes of greatness?

Grandal - UFA at season end but who would want him?  Would prolly be a salary dump anyway so not much coming back for him?

Andrus - ?

Lopez - UFA at the end of the season?

Kelly - club option in 2024.  Can be great when healthy but never is?

where one arm a night decides to have a bad evening

Today it was Graveman's turn.  Blew the save after the offence had managed to score three unearned runs

I would like to return this rebuild.  Where do I pick up my refunded sanity?

So….
My daughter asked me today when we were going to get tickets for the Sox games when they are in Denver. I said “Oh yeah. I  forgot”

This seemed like the appropriate thread to put this post.
Loveland is very unconcerned about scoring tickets. The white Sox at the Rockies.  Hmmmmm…. At least the Rox have already started trading.

Pete Ward do you have any tickets you want to unload?

No; I was unaware they were even coming to Denver until last week and am pleased with myself that my ignorance kept me from wasting any money on them.

I protested last year when they came and refused to go because that team pi$$ed me off so much and this year's team pi$$es me off even more.

Kind of a fair weather fan in that sense

Giolito and Lopez moved.

Who's next?

Sox get some top 100 catching prospect.  PeteWard did not like this comment in the review of him:  "Quero is a below-average defender"

PeteWard wants an Officer Ron Karkovice for the next Sox catcher.  Tired of opponents running at will.  Cubs with at least 9 stolen bases in the last two games against Grandal and "at least I'm hitting .158" Zavala

At least it sounds like the catcher we got from Houston has a plus arm

Some folks giving us good remarks for our returns in those trades. Despite being happy we unloaded who we did I am not pleased with our returns. Especially the pitchers, all around 25 years old already.

I would not say I am happy to see Burgrt go, but he didn’t have a glove.  I am a pitching and defense girl.

I also liked Burger. Honestly, if Eloy can stay healthy just DHing (I know, I know) he will be the better overall hitter between the two. But DH only, no OF for Eloy or Sheets. Sheets can play some 1B with Vaughn and some DH.

All that rebuilding for one lousy playoff win and now these same dopes are in charge of another rebuild? What a complete failure by this organization.

It really is a shame that they get to do it again isn't it. A new owner and an entire new front office will have to do it again in near future hopefully.

Sox have lost 18 of 24, les Royales have won six in a row.  This keeps up they could end up with the #2 pick in the 2024 draft.  Of course, they'll likely choose a clone of Carson Fulmer

What's the over/under on whether this team can set the all-time record for futility for a Sox team.  I think the 1970 White Sox hold that distinction at 54-108.  The current yo-yo's would have to finish 10-32 to achieve that goal.  The only thing holding them back is that they have 16 games left against The Rockies, Royals, A's and Nats.

My bad, turns out the 1970 Sox were 56-106.  While that level of futility is certainly within the capability of the current club, the worst Sox team ever was the 1932 team that went 49-102-1

Hey Pete Ward, heading up to Ontario tonight for week of camping/fishing. Looks like rain every day at this moment at the lake, which could mean good walleye fishing but also means being miserably wet all week. Good thing I invested in real good raingear about 10 years ago.

Best week in 35 years. For the entire group, more big walleye in one week than ever. I had personal best of 25 going into this year. Now I have a 28 1/2, 27 1/2 and a 26 to beat it. A lot of rain, but maybe that helped. I do not fish Northern Pike much but some guys do. 4 over 40 inches caught. Walleye pot winner had a 30 1/2 and same guy had largest Pike at 42 1/2

It really was. Only damper on the week was it rained 4 out of the 5 days fishing, and on morning we were tearing down camp. Nothing worse than putting up wet tents and anything not in totes or bagged. Got old, but maybe it helped fishing. Overcast, not too hot (70s), nice breeze to make a good walleye chop. Pretty ideal and left my jigs in tackle box and we used trolling motors and fished with bottom bouncers with a crawler harness and either a blue or red spinner.
