Medeiros was their 13th ranked prospect. Former 1st round pick in 2014.

Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45 | Overall: 45
The Brewers made Medeiros the highest-drafted prep to come out of Hawaii, selecting him 12th overall in 2014 after he blew away the club's front office during a pre-Draft workout at Miller Park. He's continued to impress with his pure stuff in the professional ranks, though the results have been uneven at times. After a rocky 2016 season at the Class A Advanced level that saw him miss time with back and groin injuries as well as the flu, Medeiros returned there in 2017 and showed bat-missing ability more on par with his stuff -- a trend that continued for him in 2018 in his first Double-A campaign.

Getting away from his low-three quarters arm slot in '16 cost Medeiros both velocity and life on his fastball. Bigger and stronger in '17, he looked more like his old self in the Carolina League, operating at 92-95 mph with a heavy fastball. His slider remains a plus pitch, one capable of inducing whiffs on both sides of the plate with its significant lateral break, and he'll also flash above average with his changeup, which has good sink and fade. Medeiros' control continues to be below average, but he was markedly better in that regard in '17, issuing a career-best 3.7 walks-per-nine, down from 6.7 the previous year.

The jury is still out on whether Medeiros, with his unique arm slot and underwhelming control profile, can remain a starter long term. The Brewers think he can, believing that the Hawaiian southpaw will eventually learn how to harness his dynamic three-pitch mix. If he can't, however, it's widely agreed on that Medeiros will have impact potential in a big league bullpen.

He has a Chris Sale slider. As mentioned, if does not make it as a starter, could be a great LOOGY or set up man.

Looking at Medeiros' stats the high walk rate jumps out.

Good thing is he's having his best yr this yr at AA.

Surprised we got so much for Soria.

The 20 yr old Perez has good #s as a starter in the DSL. We have no talent in the DSL, our team there really sucks.

He'll do great... can we have someone just throw him curve balls in the dirt... let him know ahead of time that's whats going to happen... he'll still swing at half of them.

There's been a lot of talk about how we have a ton of payroll and we'll go after Harper, Machado, etc. I don't know how plausible that is. Both certainly fit our window, but the length of the contract for either would be prohibitive.

We know we have to replace Shields and it would be nice to upgrade. This information came out today, and it makes me wonder how much salary we could get them to absorb. Our portion of Shields was around 10 million last year.
If we could get them to absorb half his salary, he would slot into that spot pretty well, and the 3-year window fits with developing his replacement.

The Diamondbacks are “aggressively shopping” righty Zack Greinke, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today (via Twitter). With $95.5MM of salary still due over the next three years, he’s an expensive option. But the deal is at least cabined in length, and the Snakes have a good shot at getting out from under most of it. (Alternatively, the club might be able to pay down a larger portion and recoup some talent in a swap — or go in the other direction and include additional talent to make the whole contract go away.) It’s still largely unclear how things will shake out, but the fact that the Arizona organization is looking for a taker certainly makes a trade seem quite plausible.

I think there is no way we can sign Harper because he's all about making a historic impact. He will be a Yankee or Dodger. Machado is possible, but Philly is willing to pay stupid prices according to their owner,
