I just do not know what the hell Tony is doing right now with the bull-pen. Its alarming really. What the hell is Katz's role right now?  Tony looks like he is flying by the seat of his pants on these bull-pen decisions.

the Great Cesar is hitting .227, .207 as a White Sox (.276 SLG)

Cleveland is laughing at us.

He is a very good player. Certainly better than Madrigal(for this year at least). He made a play a couple of days ago to get a runner at 3rd that very few second basemen in baseball wouldn't have even tried. He'll hit and hit with power like he has this season.

Leury is a bigger offensive factor right now, Cesar stinks right now. The stats don't lie.

Robbie Ray's last 9 starts: 58.2 IP | 65 Ks | 1.84 ERA

Tim Anderson owns a 10-game hitting streak, going 19-49 (.388) with four homers, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored (.714 SLG).

La Russa asked what it means to have TA back in the lineup tonight.

Instantaneous smile.

"Juices all of us up to have him back in there."

Tony La Russa says Carlos Rodón will come off the injured list and start for the Sox tomorrow in the series finale in Toronto.

Said there’s a decision coming soon returning Grandal to active roster: “it’s imminent”

Catcher Yasmani Grandal, on the injured list since July 6 following knee surgery, is hitting .321/.394/.464 through nine games of his rehab assignment at AA Birmingham and AAA Charlotte.

Craig Kimbrel has the ninth inning tonight, maybe tomorrow as well after Hendriks' heavy pitch count last night, La Russa said.

Stats lie all of the time. I had a statistics "emphasis" when i got my MBA. YOu can make anything you want to out of a set of "stats". The guy is a Golden Glove second baseman and a better hitter than of all people, Leury. He'll be fine, Bill.

sure stats can be manipulated, but I'm talking about batting average (.207) and slugging % (.276) which are not being manipulated. They can only be ignored, as you are doing.

Baseball is a funny game, when a guy falls off as bad as Cesar it can mean a lot of things. You're hoping he's just in a slump, I'm worried it could be more.

We got rid of Yolmer Sanchez because his bat was weak. Right now his offensive production as a White Sox far surpasses Cesar's and I find that troubling.

Its a very small sample size. Yolmer Sanchez was a very weak hitter . Look at this entire team, except for Eloy and Robert who just got back, they've all been in slumps. Besides, Madrigal was not going to play the rest of the season. Hernandez has 20 home runs this season for cripes sake.

Ugh.  No gloves.  No way we go. Anywhere in the postseason.

Trade Moncada in the off-season

White Sox beatwriters tweets:

White Sox beat the Blue Jays, 10-7

The top-four of the batting order combined for 6 RBI and 3 HR, while César Hernández starred on both sides of the ball. Craig Kimbrel got the save.

Sox are 74-55. They won three games on this road trip and none of them were chill.

Tim Anderson on the offense’s mindset today:

"They pitched a heckuva game last night, so I think it was mandatory that we wanted to go out and whup em. And you see how we jumped out on them. It was mandatory to get a win."

Most 3-hit games since 2019

38  Tim Anderson (3 hits today)
35  Starling Marte
35  Charlie Blackmon

In his first start in 19 days after an IL stint, Carlos Rodón went 5 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K, HR, 46 of 67 pitches for strikes with nine swinging strikes.

His fastball (94.9 mph) was a tick below his season average, but his last heater of the day was his hardest one (97.3 mph).

“Can’t wait to send him back out there,” said Tony La Russa of Carlos Rodón

There will be an off day on Monday that will give Carlos Rodón extra rest before his next start. He said that was by design.

Craig Kimbrel earned his first save with the White Sox today. Said any struggles he's had recently had to do with mechanics (as opposed to the inning he was pitching in):

"Had nothing to do with what inning it was. Had everything to do with what I've been working on."

Craig Kimbrel said in Tampa that he wasn’t pleased with his fastball spin/action. He’s been working on riding on his back leg and not getting around the ball on release, and saw the work show up today

“My ball was spinning like it was supposed to today.”

Pitchers to record a save for both #Cubs & #WhiteSox in same season:

Ryan Tepera, 2021
Craig Kimbrel, 2021

Steve Stone tweet:

Despite some frustrating losses, the Sox came off their most difficult 14 games vs all winning teams. The boys went 7 and 7. With Tim missing some games and Grandal not back it wasn’t bad. Carlos is back and Cease was brilliant vs a huge offense on the road. All in all not bad.

José Abreu since Aug. 1:  .302 / .352 / .625  with 9 HRs and 20 RBI

From Sox notes: White Sox have hit 24 home runs in their last 9 games against the Cubs, including five straight multi-homer efforts. Eloy Jiménez is a .389/.450/.944 hitter with five doubles, 5 homers and 10 RBI in 10 games v. Cubs and José Abreu is a .341/.399/.651 hitter with 11 home runs and 26 RBI in 33 games.

Tony La Russa raved about the way the Sox responded in yesterday's win in Toronto after Michael Kopech gave up five runs in the sixth, talked about how the dugout was amped and determined to finish off a win:

"Given how 9-2 became 9-7, it's our best three innings of the year."

Rick Hahn on if it's possible to convert Cubs fans to White Sox fans, with the White Sox in the great position they are currently in: "We're open to anyone who wants to come in and root for the White Sox .... Welcome aboard."
