Reynaldo Lopez has posted 1.08 ERA since getting called up after the All-Star break. He’ll start vs. the Rays Sunday.

Luis Robert is hitting .444/.464/.704 (12-27) with two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored over his last six games.

Craig Kimbrel said he and Tony La Russa had “a great conversation” related to getting pulled early Friday night.

Adam Engel is not currently on the road trip, so La Russa is not expecting him to be ready after the 10-day minimum stay. Also is not expecting Yasmani Grandal to return during road trip.

I'm sorry but I am really concerned with the road forward with LaRussa right now. I've seen enough to know that he is not a good manager anymore. Games that they win and in spite of him and despite the "support" that his players say to the media, I think that they know what he is doing wrong. Got nothing to prove it and I may by wrong, but his mistakes throughout the season are apparent to me. Bad hire.

Tim Anderson is out of the lineup for the third-straight game. Tony La Russa said he’s much improved but that he’s still dealing with soreness. Said Anderson wouldn’t be playing today even if they were on grass, and didn’t fully commit to him playing tomorrow

Chris Getz said 2020 second round pick Jared Kelley is dealing with right shoulder impingement. He was examined today after leaving his start at Low-A in the first inning on Sunday. White Sox are optimistic he can pitch again in 2021. Too early to say when.

Jonathan Stiever underwent surgery today on a lat injury. His 2021 season is done. Getz said he is expected to participate in 2022 spring training.

Getz said Cuban-born RHP Norge Vera’s recent debut in the DSL was delayed by shoulder soreness. But as a 21-year-old with a starter’s arsenal that Getz said has been sitting 96-99 mph with his fastball, he has dominated DSL competition in his first two outings.

Lance Lynn went 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 52 of 86 pitches for strikes, with 12 swinging strikes.

His ERA is 2.20. He gave his team a chance to win.

Tony La Russa didn't want to comment on the 3-0 pitch to Vlad in the 6th inning with a base open. Lynn left it over the plate and Guerrero singled to tie the game. It's rare for La Russa to have a 'no comment' about something.

"That was stupid, on me," Lynn said of throwing a strike to Guerrero on 3-0.

The manager controls the way the game gets played and no one else. Tony and his pitching coach can call pitches IF THEY WANT TO up to and including intentionally walking a hitter. Tony screwed that up.

Another thing, Please do not tell me what a good defensive catcher Sebi is. HE SUCKS. He had at least two passed balls today, one of which the scorer didn't call. He looks like a little leaguer back there for cripes sake.

Tim Anderson described his issue as hamstring tightness. He said he took ground balls yesterday and ran, and will do both again today. He said he wants to be out there, especially with recent losses but is “just being smart. We all know what the ultimate goal is”

Leury García is activated from the concussion IL. Optioning Ryan Burr puts the White Sox back to eight relievers. Or back to nine, if you count Reynaldo López.

The last 3 games have answered a question that some have asked. This years MVP is Tim Anderson. With Tim out of the lineup the team has lacked the essential spark it needs to ignite the offense. When you don’t score much the flaws cost you games. A healthy Tim will be welcome.

The prevailing trend on Twitter is to write off the Sox because they are under .500 vs the first place and playoff teams. Do you know what Kansas City’s record is against those teams? The Royals are 18 and 15. 3 over. By that standard how will KC do in the playoffs. They’ll watch.

White Sox beat the Blue Jays, 5-2

The offense was aggressive and effective early, but did not make the most of 18 hits. Yet Dylan Cease was a stopper and Liam Hendriks eventually got five outs. José Abreu has 96 RBI on the season.

Sox are 73-54, surpassing their 2019 win total.

Liam Hendriks with a 39 pitch outing as the Sox win 5-2. 27 hits combined between the teams.

Per @ESPNStatsInfo: The last game with 27 combined hits and 7 or fewer runs was Red Sox vs Twins on June 18, 2019. That's the only other game of that type over the last 5 seasons.

The White Sox had 18 hits but just 5 runs. Per @ESPNStatsInfo: It's the fewest runs by a team with 18+ hits this season and fewest for the White Sox with 18+ hits since 1960 and tied for their fewest runs with 18+ hits in team history.

This is the first time in #WhiteSox history they have had 18+ hits in a 9-inning game where they scored no more than 5 runs. They have done it in extra innings 6 times.

Believe it or not, this was just the third time this season Dylan Cease pitched *into* the seventh inning.

La Russa said it seemed Jays hitters were sitting on Kopech’s fastball, but before anything happened, he had informed Curt Hasler to have Hendriks (who was well-rested) ready if two runners got on that inning. Kimbrel will likely be asked to close tomorrow, if there’s a chance.

All three #BlueJays outfielders had an assist tonight (Gurriel Jr., Palacios, Hernandez).

He is a very good player. Certainly better than Madrigal(for this year at least). He made a play a couple of days ago to get a runner at 3rd that very few second basemen in baseball wouldn't have even tried. He'll hit and hit with power like he has this season.
