He's still struggling. I read somewhere where he, Katz, and the bull-pen coached found something. Well, its still not fixed. I still think that it is mental. He's over-throwing his fastball and getting ahead of his curve ball. Right now, I don't trust him when the play-off start.

The White Sox are the first team to clinch a division this season as they beat Clev 7-2.
Back to back postseason appearances for them and first division title since 2008.

"This is an important first step but we have more work to do," Hahn said.

Rick Hahn say they will be stretching out Michael Kopech over the end of the season, to hopefully get him up to three innings. Doesn’t mean he won’t be used for single inning outings.

Asked for an Andrew Vaughn update and he said “Give us 15 minutes"

Reynaldo López went 3.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 40 of 65 pitches, with nine swinging strikes

His ERA is 3.16. He got a no decision the last time the White Sox clinched a playoff spot too.

"It's like Fantasy Island," La Russa said of winning a division in his second stint with White Sox. "Winning never gets old. You appreciate everything everyone did to get here. It can get better if we play well in the Division Series."

La Russa after #WhiteSox clinch: “We know the truth…any team good enough to get in is good enough to win three series. We’ll take our best shot.”

liked the 1st game lineup, except I'd have Robert 4th, Jimenez 5th & Grandal 6th instead of Grandal, Robert & Jimenez.

Kimbrel hit a batter and walked 2 in one inning. What a walking disaster.

Anderson hitting 2 HRs to the opposite field was a thing of beauty.

2nd game lineup is a joke.

Been ruminating on Sox roster.

Don't like that Leury only backup middle infielder. Don't like Vaughn at 3rd.

I see Leury/Engel as best RF combo. Vaughn is a defensive liability in right & Goodwin shouldn't start on a playoff team (rather have Sheets in Right over Goodwin).

I see Vaughn/Sheets as best DH options. Gotta keep Jimenez in left or at least a Vaughn/Jimenez combo.

I'd drop Hamilton or Goodwin and add Mendick as utility inf. insurance. We have more than enough OFs.

I don't think so. I like Hamilton on the bench as a pinch runner and defensive outfielder. They don't need Goodwin when they have Sheets. Did you see Sheets turn around that 102 mph fast ball in the 7th inning? That pitcher was lucky he didn't get nailed with it.

Mike Wright Jr. suspended for his actions during the Angels – White Sox game on September 16, 2021. Wright Jr. will serve a two game suspension beginning tonight at Cleveland.

Tim Anderson: “I understand that when I go, the team goes. That’s why I work as hard as I do because I know these guys feed off of me.”

Luis Robert is 22-50 (.440) with six doubles, two homers, 14 RBI and 1.161 OPS during his career-long, 12-game hitting streak.

Adam Engel felt a little discomfort running the bases yesterday, Tony La Russa says, which is why the Sox aren't playing him today.

Meanwhile, Andrew Vaughn's legs feel good enough after his first game back from the IL that he's in right field for the Sox tonight.

Ryan Tepera is still expected to throw off a mound this weekend, possibly tomorrow, and be ready to pitch when Sox return to Chicago.

Dylan Cease left the game with a right triceps contusion. X-rays were negative. He is day-to-day.

With 9 K on his night, Dylan Cease moved into 9th place all-time in Sox history among single-season strikeout leaders.

Luis Robert: first home run in a 1-0 #WhiteSox win on the road since May 27, 1995 (Ron Karkovice in Detroit) - the day Yoán Moncada was born.

It's also the first White Sox home run in a 1-0 game in Cleveland

'We caught a real break,' La Russa said of Cease getting hit on triceps. 'He felt good to throw. But I said 'you can be upset with me but it's not worth the risk.' ''

Dylan Cease said his arm felt 'heavy' and he has "a nice little bruise.

“It feels good now. I don’t anticipate missing any time. I want to make one start before the postseason.”

Dylan Cease doesn't think he'll miss any time after getting hit in the arm with a batted ball. Echoed Tony La Russa's opinion that he and the Sox got lucky and might have avoided something significantly worse with where the ball hit him, above the elbow.

Tony La Russa on Craig Kimbrel: "He had everything the other side doesn't like to see, command of nasty pitches."

Lance Lynn owns a 0.69 ERA (1 ER/13.0 IP), .182 (8-44) average and 17 strikeouts in two career starts at Cleveland.

Not much more to report on Dylan Cease (bruised triceps). La Russa: "He is still getting treated. Probably have to wait till tomorrow to see how much of that soreness we can get out of there. But it’s just a bruise right now, as far as we can tell."

Outfielder Brian Goodwin dealing with back tightness, La Russa said. "Kind of locked up on him." Unsure of Goodwin's and Engel's availability tonight.

Rodon slated for Wednesday start, bullpen Sunday.

From Sox notes: Luis Robert is 23-for 53 (.434) with 6 doubles, 3 HR, 15 RBI and 1.191 OPS during his career-long 13-game hitting streak.
