Not sure, but Vaughn is a lock for the postseason roster, whereas Sheets is on the bubble.

Given that, I think it gives the team more of a benefit to keep giving Vaughn playing time out there over Sheets. I think like it or not, Goodwin is going to make the postseason roster before Sheets does (LH bat who can play corner outfield positions well), barring injury. Barring injury, Sheets is a 1B / DH on this team for the rest of the year, with occasional tastes of the outfield to give guys some rest.

I don't know if Sheets is a better right fielder than Vaughn. However, Vaughn to me cannot play right field very well. He has a lot of trouble reading the ball off of the bat of right handed hitters because of the spin of the ball taking him toward the right field line. He looks very uncomfortable playing right field but does pretty well in left field.

Luis Robert feels a bit limited with his mobility coming off the injury.

Rodon still experiencing some fatigue and soreness, per Tony La Russa. They are hoping he can pitch vs. Boston this weekend.

La Russa said he's 'hopeful' Carlos Rodon can pitch against Red Sox next weekend. Had been pegged to face A's. 'He wants to be out there but he doesn't feel it. The smart thing is to be concerned,' La Russa said.

Royals win the season series over the White Sox, 10-9, after White Sox went 9-1 in 2020. Salvador Perez hit 8 HRs with 20 RBIs in the 19 games.


White Sox are 46-24 at home, 33-34 on the road.

  I think that having the big division lead has lost the competitive edge on this team and they are just going through the motions in many games. The Royals series was a perfect example of that. The Royals went into that series with a big time chip on their shoulder and the White Sox haven't had that for awhile. Now this is Tony's time to refocus these guys to put on their man pants and quit their assuming that teams are just going to be afraid of them and roll over. This is what they were supposed to have done when they fired Renteria and hired LaRussa. Whether Tony has the ability to earn his money now is to be seen and how he does this is going to be interesting.

Personally also, I think that Lynn and Anderson have also got to kick these guys in gear themselves. Fun time is over and it is up to the PROFESSIONALS to come to the party inclduing the manager and his coaches.
