POLL: Vote on the color schemes of this place
« on: April 17, 2011, 03:35:36 pm »
Some like this new 'style' using the White Sox colors.

Some want to go back to the default blue color.

What do YOU think?

So vote as the majority will determine the outcome.

Edited to add: voting ends on Tuesday 04/19/2011 @ 7:00pm Chicago time.

Why don't you set it up as a poll, with the poll feature.  I was going to , surprised as I was to see that I had access to do so but I went outside and worked in the yard instead.

Sox colors are ok, either way, I do not really care.

Hard on my eyes, too. I'd like the original color back.

I like the current style, but if there are some that absolutely hate it, I've got no problem going back to the default setting...

I'm putting this monumental decision all on Love.  ;D

Could we see what a basic  black on white looks like? MODS! Do you have a sample of that you could show?

I don't possess the computer knowledge to make one from scratch.

I've look around trying to find one that someone already made that fits this forum.  Unfortunately the few I found don't work properly here since create-a-forum uses a modified version of the Simple Machines LLC  2.0 program.

At the Create-a-Forum support board there are only a few "styles" posted that work perfectly.  The are Dark Modern, Orangina and Curvy Caramel.  you can check it out here: http://support.createaforum.com/style-support/

In the one 'style' we're using right now I was able to modify dark modern by changing one of the font colors from mauve to white.  I tried, by trial and error, for quite a long time to change the background color to white.  I failed to idenify the right code to make the background color change.

If someone with far more computer knowledge wants to play around with the code by all means I'm open to making the change.  Send me the correct CSS codes and I'll try it out first on a test board to make sure it works properly.

-----------------

The quickest & easiest way I found to customize the look here is to use a FireFox browser with the NoSquint add-on.  Quickest and easiest app around to customize the look of any website.   For those worried about changing their browsers, you can have more than one browser installed on your computer without causing any problems.  On the desktop computer I'm using right now, I have 5 different browsers installed:  FireFox,  IE8, Chrome, Avant, and Opera.  The last two of them I rarely ever use and probably should just remove them. I basically use FireFox over 80% of the time as I find it's quick loading and it offers more features that I find useful (like NoSquint) that can't be found on Chrome or IE.  Chrome is great if you don't want many bells and whistles.  As far as IE goes, I only use it on certain websites like microsoft and comcast which recommend their use to optimally view their websites.

By using FireFox with the NoSquit add-on you can in a matter of less than five second customize your view of  this board  from black background with grey & white font color to:

I highly recommend every member here use the FireFox browser with the NoSquint add-on while view this site as it's the ONLY way that each and every one of us can customize the 'look' of this board to our individual tastes without affecting the other members viewing.

If you have yet to vote in the poll, do so now as the poll closes in less than an hour.

voting extended for three hours since there is no outright winner right now.

As of 7:00pm, there is a tie between 'keep the Black & Silver White Sox look' & 'let Loveland choose' each with 6 votes.  The generic 'SMC default blue' is trailing the pack with only 4 votes.

The white-text-on-black-background is killing me.

Although that is probably incentive for some to keep it this way....

Is this a re-vote or does the previous vote count?

You sound like my grandfather did when he went into Polk Brothers in the early '60s and discovered they offered an option of Color TV as well as the standard black & white sets.

No one here is forcing you to do anything.

Just remember that if the vote doesn't go your way, a reasonable alternative was offered that fixes your objections to this site.

It's not a re-vote. Your vote still stands. Just extending the voting time to allow those who didn't cast their vote to do so in order to get a winner.

If we're still tied by 10:00pm, we'll just have a run-off vote between the two top choices.

Alright we still have a tie after the extending voting period.

We'll now have a run-off vote between the two leaders until Wednesday April 20th @ 10:00pm (Chicago time).  Every member is able to cast one vote again.  Even those members who didn't vote in the first poll.

Choose either:

Keep what you're looking at now (White Sox colors - Silver, Black & White)

or

Let Loveland choose since she is the fashion police.

Clarification:  If the 'let Loveland choose' option wins this vote.  Loveland can choose from any of the existing five styles that work on create-a-forum boards.  Her choices can be: dark modern; curvy caramel; default blue; orangina; or the white sox silver, black & white.

this topic is now locked.  Go to the new POLL topic to vote and post any further comments.
