Allo Love and Fury, nice to see you.  Yeah, I'm an optimist....just have a feeling that Danks is going to have a great year and that Peavy will stay healthy.  Also think DV is going to mash the ball while driving wshful crazy w/ his play in the field...

/sounds like fun!

DV hasnt proved he is capable of hitting major league pitching. Again I would be mildly shocked if he hits .250 for the season. No shock if he were sent down during the season either.

Humber will get Sox started in spring opener
Danks, Peavy to follow as exhibition season begins

By Mark Gonzales, Chicago Tribune reporter - 9:29 p.m. CST, March 1, 2012

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Philip Humber will start the White Sox's exhibition opener Monday against the Dodgers.

But it's who follows Humber that appears to be more of an indication of the Sox's rotation for the regular season.

Left-hander John Danks will start the second exhibition game Tuesday against the Angels in Tempe and appears to have the inside track to be the Sox's opening day starter April 6 at Texas. Jake Peavy will follow Danks on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Yes but what is that shadow? It looks like it's possibly an alien being of some sort.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - One of the most noticeable developments in the Chicago White Sox's intrasquad game Saturday will be the return of Alex Rios to right field and Dayan Viciedo in left field.

New manager Robin Ventura indicated he might use this alignment. Rios hasn't started in right field on a regular basis since 2009 with Toronto. Viciedo has never played left field in the Sox's organization.

Sox's Sale makes believer out of Pierzynski in first start

by Mark Gonzales - mgonzales@tribune.com - Twitter @MDGonzales

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Although it was only an intrasquad game, left-hander Chris Sale made a favorable impression Saturday on catcher A.J. Pierzynski in his first start in preparation for the regular season.

"He got (Alex) Rios and (Paul) Konerko out with a guy on second in the first inning," said Pierzysnki, who had two hits off starter Gavin Floyd. "The most important thing was he threw strikes and didn’t walk anybody. He made them put the ball in play."

Sale pitched two innings, allowing no runs on two hits while fooling Jim Gallagher on a called third strike to end the second. Sale also was aided by a double play, with second baseman Eduardo Escobar making a smooth pivot.

This spring, Alex Rios is open-minded

by Jim Margalus on Mar 5, 2012 11:25 PM CST

Upon his arrival to spring training, Alex Rios would only speak in vague terms about potential changes in his swing:

Quote
"Every time I talk about the good things that I'm working on, I feel like .... I'm very superstitious," said Rios, speaking to the media Saturday morning after reporting four days before White Sox position players officially are due. "Every time I say something, I feel like everything I've done goes away."

In perusing videos from '06 and '07, Rios made it clear that he wasn't trying to copy what worked for him five or six years ago. He simply is picking up things that might get him back to where he was before a dismal .227 showing with 13 homers and 44 RBIs in 2011.

He's left it up to us to put the pieces together, and we got our first look on Monday. At first glance, you can't help but notice he's holding his hands much higher than usual. They're also a little more away from his head. That's kind of a big deal, because two years ago, his hands were so low that visiting broadcasters speculated about them like a mystery half-mast flag at the post office ("Memorial Day was four weeks ago. Did they forget to put it back up? Maybe we missed a death?").

I think Rios is open-minded to hitting .250, I just dont expect him to be successful doing it.

When he talks Alex can't even pretend to sound like he really wants to change.

Sounds like a guy who hit the lottery and is just gonna go for the ride. ;)

It took awhile for Axelrod to open eyes
Sox pitcher had long journey to major leagues

By Mark Gonzales, Chicago Tribune reporter - 10:28 p.m. CST, March 6, 2012

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Three years ago, the only links Jake Peavy and Dylan Axelrod had were that they were members of the Padres organization and Axelrod's uncle, Barry, represented Peavy.

The two pitchers were more than just reunited last September when Axelrod was promoted to the White Sox. Axelrod is scheduled Wednesday to follow Peavy when the Sox face the Brewers at Camelback Ranch in Axelrod's first chance to earn a spot on the opening-day roster after pitching for the independent league Windy City Thunderbolts as recently as 2009.

"He has had to prove himself at every level, just to make a college team, and just to get drafted," Peavy said. 'People think that because of his uncle being a part of the game, he gets favored by the Padres and gets drafted. The Padres ended up letting him go.

Wow, MSF, you're judging this after 2 spring training games? Do you remember the last time the Sox had a good spring training record? They didn't have a good spring training in 2005 either. Let's not get carried away here, geez.

I had just read the latest BA, they picked us to finish last in our division. Said we are an old tired team.

Hard for me to think of us as old, but we did look very disinterested last year. Lets hope it gets better, but I have my doubts.
