Really? Thome? I'm not so sure it's a smart move to hire a guy that was near the top in Ks every season as your hitting instructor.

But he is an ex-Sox, so he's probably a lock at this point.

I find it difficult to believe Thome gets the job. Of course Ventura also seemed a strange hire to me.

IMHO Danks is a goner, probably Quentin as well. When the Sox left Danks off the 40 man it kind of said what was going to happen. I just hope they get some talent back in return. Buehrle for 3 more years? I dont know about that one. My guess is the interested teams will dwindle in a hurry.

The biggest obstacle preventing Mark Buehrle from signing in Miami is the team's reluctance to give him a no-trade clause, according to Rosenthal. The holdup in the talks may push the Marlins to pursue another free agent lefty, C.J. Wilson.

Santos was traded for Nestor Molina, who was the Jays' #2 prospect. He's supposed to project as a near top-of-rotation starter.

Kenny is clearly looking ahead to the future (we should all pretty much assume 2012 is going to be a lost year). Don't need Santos closing if the team is only going to win 65-70 games. And I guess Santos is what it took to get a #2 prospect. This is part of the rebuilding process.

Those are some impressive numbers. I liked Santos, but he's hit his ceiling. Hopefully Reed can pick up the closer role. If not, it will fall to Frasor.

I'm not sure this signals Kenny is seeing this as a lost year. They might have seen something about Santos where they know the league is going to catch on to him (or hitting his ceiling as ISF says), may have more moves coming, etc. Bullpen and closing is a really fickle thing.

Number 2 in jays... but hes 83rd overall in MLB as a prospect.

Look at what the twins gave up for Matt freaking Capps, and we're giving up a closer thats cost controlled to a team friendly deal for 4 more years... for 1/2 the haul... Kendry's gotta go.
