I'll go one step further and suggest we could make two trades and get rid of two outfielders.
Quentin for Beachy, if available, would give us a 7th SP.
I would think we could turn around and offer the Mets Jackson/Pierre for Carlos Beltran.
The money is similar, if not exact. Both Pierre and Jackson come off the books this year, which would have to be enticing.
Jackson is a serviceable #4 with the potential to be a #1 when he's on.
At worst, those two would each be Type B FAs. With a strong second half, either could be a Type A.
In essence, you would replace Jackson/Quentin/Pierre with Beachy/Beltran/Viciedo and add a year of salary for Beltran.
It would be the type of win now and rebuilding/have my cake and eat it too move KW loves.
