Montas is a reliever with Oakland I think. Still only 25.
He is getting torched at AAA I think

They're stretching him out as a starter. Still throws 97. He's got some work to do yet.

I guess I don't get the negativity around Collins. He is what he is. He'll be a .230 hitter with a .330-.350 OBP and .750-.800 OPS

If we can have a guy who gets on base at a .340 clip and plays good D behind the dish, that isn't a bad catching prospect in my view.
Castillo will OPS .800 and be a defensive black hole. Still think we're better off with Kevin Smith right now.

Not sure how you think he will hit .230, I tend to doubt that

I thought there would be rejoicing since we had wailing and gnashing of teeth when Trace was traded away.......

He's still working on his swing. End of last year he switched to having bat on shoulder instead of wagging it before swinging. He's admitted it feels awkward, so it is going to take ABs to get used to.

Collins has a career minor league BA of .219.

He also has a career OBP of .373 and OPS of .798.
The batting eye will play. He just needs to find his swing.

So, do we sign a scrap heap guy or trade for a body at C?

Why, we really do not want to win at this point? We brought up Gonzalez from AAA, he is no good, but Smith is on DL as is Zavala and Collins needs to continue hitting in AA for now. Since our C is suspended for PEDs we do not need to make room on 40-man for him, so we do not need to cut anyone to add Gonzalez.

Kevan Smith on DL at AAA. Seby Zavala on DL at AA.

Garneau to AAA.

  Ryan LaMarre
is a rare breed. One of the very few MLB position players in the last 50 years to throw lefty but bat righty. Last White Sox player that I remember to do so was outfielder Jeff Abbott (late '90s). Only position player in the HOF who batted right and threw left is Rickey Henderson.

No apology necessary: White Sox All-Star Jose Abreu worth keeping more than trading
