Flowers was league avg for a catcher with the bat... and best defensive catcher in the league when accounting for pitch framing...

Not going to miss him all that much, but its a perplexing move imo....

A couple names I've seen the Sox associated with:  Justin Upton (apparently he's their prime OF target), Brett Lawrie, and Asdrubal Cabrera.

I really do not want Upton. Cabrera better on O than Ramirez, not as good with glove.  Iffy there.

Attitude, and the fact I do not think he is worth the money he wants. But I do like him better than Avisail, cannot get rid of that bum soon enough.

Oh, Upton is not a good OF either. Lazy and takes lots of poor angles. We can do better. We get too caught up on homers.

Shoe... look at Upton's BA for the last 5 years... goes down every year.

I agree with MSF, he will be like his brother an albatross contract. If they really want to spend more of JR's money get Gordon

#WhiteSox exploring Japanese 3B Nobuhiro Matsuda. He hit a career-high 35 homers last year for #Softbank. Well timed move to US.

Apparently close to acquiring Brett Lawrie.

Because trades with Oakland have worked out so well for us.

I really don't like this potential acquisition. Another bust whose BA, OBP, and BB% have basically been on a downward trajectory since 2012 (BA last year being the only exception - went from .247 to .260).

He'd probably go by "Nobu," if that makes it more shoutable.

Not too excited about it but I guess he has had injuries and had been an excellent defensive player. I can live with good D, low OBP but not bad and bad

He's an excellent defensive player? Everything I've seen / read says he's about average.

Granted, that's still an improvement over Gillaspie, but I'd like to see more than just average defense + mediocre hitting out of a corner infield spot.

Correct, he is not all that on D.

Maybe we can dump Courtney Hawkins on them. Hope they leave Engel (CF) and Michalczewski (3B) alone out of the everyday players. I almost bet my left nut they take both of them. They can have Montes and Danish from the pitchers, but hope not Adams.

White Sox, A’s “Hit Snag” In Brett Lawrie Trade Talks

By Steve Adams | December 9, 2015 at 5:23pm CST

5:23pm: The ChiSox and A’s have “hit a snag” in trade talks surrounding Lawrie, reports Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area. While a deal could eventually be worked out, the team wasn’t able to agree on the prospect package that would return to Oakland.

This doesn't bother me either. We got Lawrie for Zachary Erwin and J.B. Wendelken. I never knew we had those guys
