I'd disagree MSF. Pollock was ahead of him in the organization, which is why they were able to leverage him in a trade.

This is a pretty good scouting report on Eaton. Best I've found so far, anyway:

If you're looking for major league comps you might be thinking Kenny Lofton or Juan Pierre. Eaton does have the speed to steal some bases but he's not quite in their league.

Excellent trade if he ends up being the next Kenny Lofton.   Bad move if he's the next Juan Pierre.

We really didnt give up much to get him... i think his OBP and speed are needed in our lineup.

Santiago really wasnt as good a pitcher as his ERA makes it appear.. his FIP is 4.4 for 2013,he walks more then 4 batters per 9. he had a lot of luck keeping the ball in the park last year.

I love the deal as its the type of OFer we should have been going after for years and we gave up very little to get him.

Still have hope for dunn to be moved while eating salary, and perhaps toronto would like to be really nice and trade us Sanchez for JD.

I love seeing a high quality OBP for a change. Tired of our low OBP high K org of late. Just eat the money and release Dunn. No one will ever take him off our hands.

So you would rather have a .245 Kong with 12 homers, than a .205 Dunn with 39 dingers? I'm not high on Dunn but I prefer him to Kong. We don't have much LH hitting and from end of May to early September we saw a Dunn that averaged over .270 with super high OBP. Kong stunk all year.

Actually, Konerko hasn't been good for the last year and a half as his  2012 post-All Star game numbers dropped considerably from his 2012 pre-All Star game numbers.

Hope I'm wrong but I think Paulie's toast as a player and this $2.5 million deal is both a combination of payback for presenting the 2005 World Series winning game ball to Reinsdorf and White Sox management fearing some sort of backlash from Konerko supporters if they made the decision to let him go while Paulie still wanted to play another year..

When did I say I wanted Kong at DH, I want Viciedo there, with De Aza moving to LF.

When you look at the value the DBacks put on Trumbo, Dunn's numbers look very good. Right now it looks like he and Konerko platoon at DH, with both giving the occasional rest to Abreu.

Santiago may walk alot of guys, but that's common for young pitchers. I think he'll cut that rate down. I just hate that we gave up young players to get a young player. Would rather we had found a way to deal Danks.

The White Sox’s Alejandro De Aza has drawn the Giants’ interest, but they don’t appear willing to give up much for him.

My three cents:

Dunn:  Might as well keep him and see if we get lucky and he actually hits well and is actually tradeable in July.     If he sucks, you can always release him in June.

RE Rule V Catcher:   weird that they think a 24-year old A ball guy can stick on a major league roster, but I guess the risk is low.

De Aza:  they don’t appear willing to give up much for him     What a shock!   :-)

Just a few random thoughts:

I think Konerko's production has suffered from injuries more than anything else over the past 1.5 years.  I think he can still be a useful hitter if he can keep from getting dinged up.

I'd like to see Beckham back at 3B.  Funny that the Sox haven't been able to fill that position since they moved him out of there (okay, I guess Youk was decent there).

I'll be pi$sed if they move Danks after they gave him the contract that should have been used to keep Buehrle in a Sox uniform.

Don't underestimate the addition of Keppinger to this team....

Pretty sure I read back then that Buehrle would've taken a hometown discount but was told by Williams that they weren't even going to make him an offer.  If that was the case, I don't think that the comparison between the $ amount of their current salaries works as well as it normally would.  My point was that if they hadn't ponied up to sign Danks long-term, would they have had the budget to keep Buehrle?  Seems like the decision was made to lock up Danks and let Buehrle sign elsewhere.

Not true.  Danks' contract was for 5 years / $65 million.     Buehrle's was 4 years / $58 million.    Danks averages $13 million @ year while Buehrle averages $14.5 million a year.   That's pretty close.

Addison Reed traded to Arizona for a 3B prospect.    More to come.

Not a bad trade again... is AZ looking to give up all their top OBP Prospects?

He's 22, has a career .350 OBP in the minors.

I like. Davidson has been a consistent .350/.800 hitter in the minors. Hopefully he can solve our 3B problem.

His Defense isnt all that... so that kinda sucks... but other then that perhaps we might have someone to take over at 3b for a while.

Nate Jones should have an opportunity to close.

Our lineup has gotten alot younger this offseason:

Eaton CF

Abreu 1B

Davidson 3B

added to a lineup that already has

Beckham 2B

Garcia RF

Flowers C

Viciedo LF

The only 30-somethings in the lineup will be Ramirez and  Dunn/Konerko.

Viciedo/flowers should not be in any lineup... well they can go to the carwash and work with norton.
