You seem to disagree with a lot of sites that do this for a full time job. Maybe the reason that there are so many possible choices in the top 20 is because the top twenty are mostly strong. Who knows, but just google the 2014 mlb draft strength and you get lots of positives, and no negatives.

Question:

Gordon Beckham is 2nd yr arb eligible. He just finished his age 26 season with a 3 yr trend of increasing OPS and OPS+.

Do you keep the faith that he's ready to break out in 2014, or do you encourage Cincy that you'd take Brandon Phillips in exchange for Beckham + an extra contract like Keppinger? Phillips has 4 years remaining at an average of 12.5 mil/yr, and has shown consistent offense at a weak position.

I tend to trust Hawk's comparison of Beckham to Konerko in that, once the kid figures out the mental aspect of hitting, it's all going to come together.  Then again, I'm the guy who was convinced that Ross Gload had what it took to be the next John Olerud.

•The White Sox have signed corner infielder Alex Liddi to a minor league contract, Mario Salvini of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports (confirmed by FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi).  The Italian-born Liddi was designated for assignment by the Orioles in September and he was outrighted off the team's 40-man roster.  Liddi has a .636 OPS in 188 Major League PA with the Mariners since 2011 and he has posted a .272/.337/.459 slash line in 3734 career PA in the minors.

Get me a real catcher and real 3B-man, have Danks pitch better, and have Dunn hit closer to his pre-Sox norm... and think we might have something halfway decent.

•The White Sox aren't used to picking as high as third overall in the amateur draft, MLB.com's Scott Merkin writes, but the club is hoping to use the high pick and larger draft bonus pool to fuel GM Rick Hahn's plan to restock the farm system.

the [White Sox are] hoping to use the high pick and larger draft bonus pool to restock the farm system.

Scott Mer-kin, digging deep to bring you the obvious.  :-)

Methinks Method, Et Al will like this hahn quote/plan:

"When you pick in the top five, one of the benefits is a significantly larger bonus pool you are afforded later in the draft.  That actually allows you to do some things up top, as well as potentially reallocating that money a little bit and get higher-costing talent later in the draft . It's not necessarily all going to fall on one kid and this is the No. 3 pick in the country. Instead, it will come down to what's the best way to allocate a fairly significant bonus pool that we've earned for the upcoming draft."

Hoping we jump on tre turner early... and go after some HS arms later in the draft that are considered "hard signs"

we did take a SS last year as well though.

Tease?

Rick Hahn says that the intensity of trade talks has picked up in the past few days, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.  "We well could have something in the next day or it could take through Orlando (Dec. 9-12) when the logjam sort of breaks,” Hahn said.

•One area where GM Neal Huntington hopes to make a move is at first. Though the club believes that Gaby Sanchez can increase his production against same-handed pitching, he is still in need of a platoon partner to hit righties.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/pirates-notes-first-base-furcal-burnett-trade-jones.html

Seems like an opportunity to dump Dunn. He has one year left on his contract, and I'm sure Huntington understands his window to win is limited.
Having Dunn solely against righties would give him some value. He can still offer very good power and a keen batting eye. I wouldn't mind taking Garrett Jones back in a deal either. We need some depth.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/white-sox-to-re-sign-paul-konerko.html

Paul Konerko will return to the White Sox for a 16th season, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). Konerko is represented by LSW Baseball.

Recent reports indicated that Konerko, who will turn 38 in early March, would inform the White Sox whether or not he wished to return or retire prior to the start of the Winter Meetings. Konerko posted brilliant numbers with the White Sox even in his age-36 season in 2012, batting .298/.371/.486 with 26 homers, but his production fell off the table in 2013. Konerko mustered just a .244/.313/.355 batting line this past season and also missed nearly three weeks with back pain.

The White Sox signed Cuban sensation Jose Dariel Abreu to a six-year, $68MM contract, clearly indicating that they view him as their everyday first baseman. As such, Konerko figures to shift into more of a part-time role for the White Sox in 2014, unless they're able to move Adam Dunn in a trade. Konerko is said to be open to a reduced role with the Sox.

Originally selected with the No. 13 overall pick by the Dodgers in the 1994 draft, Konerko found himself traded to the Reds and then the White Sox in a span of six months. The move proved to be a good one for Chicago; in his 15 seasons with the White Sox, Konerko is a .283/.359/.495 batter with 427 home runs.

Tribune says Konerko will make $2.5 millie, with $1 millie deferred to 2021.

Surprised he signed for that low.

That's still probably more than he's really worth.  Wished he retired so that 25th spot on the roster can be filled by someone who might contribute more than Konerko probably has left in his tank.   ::Wishing Konerko proves me wrong::

Lets hope he can help some of these new dudes out. Maybe he can contribute in other ways. Hopefully. Was at first hoping this might mean we release Dunn, but likely not.

I was thinking about that -- his taking away the last roster spot from some young player.  But then again, that last roster spot would probably be some piece of crap, like Tyler Greene.

I am hoping this is a signal that Hahn has found a taker for Adam Dunn.    Not sure it make sense to release him, or to eat significant money; if no one will trade for him, I think you keep him and hope he catches fire by the trade deadline.

RE: Granderson.   I'm not surprised the White Sox have intreest, but probably only at something like 5/$70.  Not sure his price has come down that much.

To me, the bigger question is whether Granderson is worth losing a high second round draft pick.
