Trading Gordon Beckham & Hector Santiago for Aaron Sanchez & Marcus Stroman would be a bad deal for the White Sox.  The CWS need better position players, not necessarily more pitching prospects.

We've been after stroman for a long time it seems.

If they find a taker for Danks... getting those two arms would be nice.

If they can trade John Danks for one or both of those two, I'm perfectly fine with it.
I would not include Beckham.

i think it would be separate trades..

Beckham and Santiago nets those two. JD nets a 2bman from elsewhere

The White Sox have exercised their $4MM club option on right-hander Matt Lindstrom, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin (on Twitter). Lindstrom's option contained a $500K buyout, essentially making this a $3.5MM decision for White Sox GM Rick Hahn and his staff.

Lindstrom, who turns 34 in February, was the only option decision that the White Sox had to make this offseason. The veteran flamethrower turned in a 3.12 ERA with 6.8 K/9, 3.4 BB/9 and 55.6 percent ground-ball rate in 60 2/3 innings in 2013. Lindstrom's fastball was once again blistering, checking in with an average velocity of 95 mph.

Lindstrom will re-join a relief corps that is fronted by closer Addison Reed and also includes hard-throwing setup man Nate Jones. While the White Sox have a number of internal options, it wouldn't be surprising to see them add at least one more veteran arm for the 2014 season. Their bullpen depth took a hit this season when they traded Matt Thornton to the Red Sox and Jesse Crain to the Rays.

Nats want to acquire another number one starter.

How about Sale and Beckham, for Lucas Giolito, Anthony Rendon, Brian Goodwin, and Danny Espinosa?

I wouldn't touch Espinosa. I also wouldn't trade Sale.

I'd part with Beckham in a smaller deal for two prospects, but only because we have a couple quality young infield guys like Semien that I think can adequately replace him.

No way I trade Sale at this point. Thus far he is outlasting the critics of his delivery.

I don't want to trade Sale either, but everyone and everything has a price. I doubt the Nats would make that trade either. Giolito is their number one prospect, Goodwin their number 3, and Rendon was their number one last year. All three I bet will become stars. ISF is right Espinosa was just a throw in, he is likely done.

If we were to trade Sale, we'd need to get at least one very proven major leaguer back -- not just "bets" to become stars. Otherwise we could also trade him to the Cubs for half of their top prospects but they'd be getting the star and if the prospects turn out to be just meh, everyone would call for Hahn's head.

The reason I would not trade Sale is because he is locked up for a very reasonable price for a long time. Finding an ace pitcher with his price tag is near impossible. Unless you know something is wrong with him, I don't think you can get enough value back to move him.
He is probably the only irreplaceable player on the team. Maybe Avisail Garcia could be considered no-touch as well.

Speaking of trading Sale:

“There’s a group of guys that we feel are part of our long-term success and having Chris at the front of our rotation we think is a big part of that potential for success,” Hahn said. “Obviously he’s signed for the next six years if we exercise both his options and we fully intend to win within that window. So while we have to not close off any avenues and have to hear other clubs when there is certain valuable commodities, moving him is not something we’re looking to do.”

Even though the White Sox have made it clear they won’t part with Sale or Garcia, it hasn’t stopped other teams from asking. Both players have received considerable interest over the past few months with one GM noting he pushed hard and offered several significant prospects for the two-time All-Star left-hander.

Nothing earth-shattering, in fact rather obvious.  Yet "something(s) to read", nonetheless.

I liked reading this.

Avisail Garcia, Chris Sale, Jose Quintana, and the newly-acquired Jose Dariel Abreu are off limits, executives told Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com.

Q is probably the one of the most under-rated starters in the AL at this point...

Reed is one trade chip we have... hes a young cost controlled closer... He might bring back a couple decent pieces.

MSF/Law.. thoughts on draft?

Who we going after with that #3 pick?

Obviously Rodon is out of the ? as he will go #1.

Weak draft to have a high pick.

We took SS high last year. but Turner and Gatewood are two SS's that could go at 3...

I've read a few sites stating that this was a very strong draft

imo too many prep players... very few finished products.

Look at a guy like turner... he's going anywhere from 3rd to 14th...

Very top of the draft is shallow... its rodon and the rest...
