Yankees offer the "Greek God of Walks" a one-year $12 million contract:

Sounds like a good deal for Youk if he takes it.  Coupled with his $1 million buy out he received from the Sox that would make it $13 million for the 2013 season which equals what his option year would have paid if it was picked up.

Olney suggests A.J. Pierzynski could be a fit for the Rays, but notes that rival evaluators don’t particularly like his defense. One agent predicts the White Sox will end up re-signing the free agent catcher.

Ugh, I hope not.   Unless it's one year for super-low money.

I don't like AJ enough to spend more than a couple million on him.   AJ is looking to cash in, as this is pretty much his last chance to do so.

It has nothing to with Flowers or any other schmoe they could run out there.    I just am afraid of overspending because of either sentimentality or because of last year's abberartion.

Mike Adams could sign in the next couple of days, Jayson Stark reports. The Nationals, Blue Jays, Phillies, Rangers, Cubs, White Sox, Angels and Brewers have been linked to the free agent reliever

Adams is nasty, although his ERA jumped over 3 last year for the 1st time in years.

Gavin Floyd for Kendrys Morales?

Would come at a cost savings, which might allow us to re-sign Pierzynski.
Could also allow us to look at possible trades for Dunn.

And just as I post that the Mariners send Jason Vargas to the Angels for Morales...

I am ok with Dunn as our DH. Decent OBP, lots of run production, and his homers seem to come in somewhat clutch situations. He hit a lot of big time shots last year when we needed them. I think he makes our lineup better than a guy like Morales would have.

Somewhat agree, but his ability to take many pitches really allows the 1 and 2 men to run, if they have that ability, it also allows everyone in the lineup to see that many more pitches. Leave him 3.

from the "Bright One":

Quote

The market for Pierzynski never got very hot, even after the Pittsburgh Pirates signed free agent Russell Martin to a two-year, $17 million deal and the Red Sox agreed to terms with former Ranger Mike Napoli for three years, $39 million during the Winter Meetings. The White Sox reportedly offered Pierzynski a one-year at $4 million after he made $6 million in 2012. The Rangers are expected to pay about twice that amount, although no terms have been announced. There are conflicting reports on whether the Yankees offered a one-year deal.

Great so, Konerko can hit a double and not score Dunn.  Rios to 3, Dunn to 5.  Seeing more pitches.  Gayy

So do we bring up somebody from the minors or do we do a trade for a catcher?

! am going to miss #12. The problem I see is replacing him, not just his bat but his leadership

What leadership?   Most of his teammates hated him.

That and his defense are he two knocks that even kept the Yankees from going after him, even without a catcher of their own at this time.

I am scared Flowers has forgotten how to hit, guess we will see. Jiminez as backup for now.

Not kidding.   Think of it as step 2 of the clubhouse cleansing.
