I will take your word for it. He had some success with the A's and seemed to be a very professional hitter in AAA. Good OBP, not afraid to take a BB and does not K a ton.

Any interest in getting Brent Lillibridge back?

He was DFA by the Indians a couple of weeks ago and cleared waivers.  The Indians then attempted to send him to the minors where he refused the assignment which now makes him a free agent. Two teams have washed their hands of him since the CWS traded him to Boston for Youk.  He had a good run for the White Sox in 2011 but last year he was awful. If only he would cut down on his swing, learn to bunt better and use his speed to get on base.  But that's the knock on him for the last five years or more.  He's been with five different organizations now (Pirates, Braves, White Sox, Red Sox and Indians) and he still refuses to change his approach.  I don't want him back with the White Sox.  We don't need a guy who has a 7 to 1 K to BB ratio who, except for a couple of months in 2011, has basically shown only warning track power.

Jon Heyman‏@JonHeymanCBS
#dodgers have emerged as a potential surprise suitor for a.j. pierzynski, who was terrific in 2012.

Doesn't surprise me as AJ was set to sign with the Dodgers two years ago before Reinsdorf intervened at the last moment.

I see that Russell Martin has agreed to a two year $17M deal with the Pirates.  That makes the Yankees needing a new starting catcher.  I'm doubling down on my prediction that AJ signs with the Yankees. The short right field porch at Yankee Stadium, along with spring training at home in Florida and a $12-14 million two year contract will be too tough for AJ to turn down.   Yankees need the power of another left handed hitter with Swisher expected to sign with some other organization. The 'pressure' of playing in NY won't faze Pierzynski.  AJ is the perfect fit for the Yankees.

No thank you.

So both players we traded for Youk are already gone from Boston, too funny. What a steal.

We'll be sorry we lost Humber.  No one pitches that good for a year and 1/2 on accident.

Saw that, I would give him a shot I think. Mark Reynolds cut by Orioles, lots of power but tons of Ks. No thanks.

Humber should have success over in the NL, but he'd have had a hard time beating out Santiago or Quintana for the #5 spot in our rotation.

It's Humber.

Forgot they're moving Houston. Danks is coming back as well, so our starting rotation had no room for Humber unless several get dealt.
Frankly, I don't even see us trading Floyd. He won't bring the return they are probably looking for.

I agree, but at least you have to see what you can get to see if it'd be worth it.

What if Hahn could facilitate a 3-way trade with Texas and Arizona that included Texas getting Upton, Arizona getting Alexei and Sox getting Olt?
Can Sanchez play SS? Would that create enough room to bring back AJ?

Curious about that possibility, since it's clear that Arizona wants a SS back for Upton and Texas isn't biting.

I think Hahn would do that but AZ is not giving up Upton and only getting Alexei back. A whole lot more pieces would need to be involved.

If the Sox can sign another right hander (McCarthey has been rumored), then I fully expect Floyd to be traded.   Two reasons:  clear the salary, and  Sox Brass has grown weary of his inconsistency.

Why would all we want back be a .152 hitting 1Bman from Texas?  I wouldnt give up Alexi for that

Because 1) Olt can play 3B; and 2) Olt is one of the best hitting prospects in the Rangers' system, and he's ML ready.

At .152 he is one of the best hitting prospects in the Texas system? Boy even Morel was better than that. I expect more than that. Maybe thats why they hired an assistant HC for. :o

What about Floyd for Saltalamachia, Thornton for Danny Espinosa, and Alexie for the most we can get.?

Salty will help Flowers transition into full time, and Floyd would be a free agent next year. Espinosa is a switch hitter with lots of upside, and Nats are desperate for a lefty or two in the bullpen. Espinosa also was brought up as a shortstop.

Alexi shoudl bring back something very decent, and with Thornton, Alexie, and Floyd gone, we have freed up tons of money for a good free agent.

You're basing his pedigree based on 40 plate appearances (33 at-bats)????

Holy buckets.

Anyone who doesn't homer in their first at bat is undeserving of another chance.

No ****.

But when you're talking about a prospect who's had 33 AB's in the big leagues, are you going to use those 33 AB's (16 games) to judge how talented he is / what kind of hitter he can grow into?

He's one of the best 3B prospects in baseball, but I guess none of that matters if you struggle in your first 33 AB's.
