Edwin Jackson wants to return to the Nats, on a Nats chatroom and the Nats beat writer, the response is sign Peavy to a three year deal at around $30 million.

I wouldn't mind having Edwin Jackson back if he doesn't return to the Nats.

He is saying the Nats are talking about Peavy, to likely replace Jackson.

Rather have JP then Edwin.  if JP wants to come back at 10 million a year its not a bad signing.

Local sports radio is talking about trying to acquire Dunn for a Shields/hellickson. They threw around the idea of Dayan too. They can have both for Matt Moore!

The Rays would never trade any of those 3 SP's for Dunn straight up... but it'd be nice.

First off, I want nothing more to do with Juan Pierre, especially at 10mil per.  If KW can get a decent player for Dunn without having to eat payroll, god bless him

Juan Pierre is worth $20mil. Easily.
It's just intangible.

jp = Peavy.

Sheilds can be had cheaper then you guys think... his salary goes up to 9 and 12 million for the next two years. Rays need a Bat and they are broke...

Dayan + a BP arm for Shields.

Actually, you really can't measure Juan Pierre's worth with mere numbers.

I would not trade Dayan for Shields. He should improve, and Trayce Thompson and Brady Shoemaker are both at least a year away.
We are already likely to lose Pierzynski and Youkilis bats.

I would trade Rios  for Shields.  I don't expect him to duplicate this year's success and there is a cost savings to doing that.
DeWayne Wise and Jordan Danks could probably cover that spot until Trayce/Brady is ready.

Rays will not take on any salary... so Rios to rays is not going to happen.

I dont get the fascination with Dayan.

Just have a hunch that Peavy is the same 11-11 pitcher that he was this year if he stays in the AL, but will regain some dominance if he goes back to the NL.  Not sure he'll be worth $10m for the Sox.

Wise is a FA.

Trade Dunn, not Rios or Viciedo.

I truly enjoyed that trade, what a waste of a 5th round draft pick, I mean, it was not even close to being appropriate.

Ha. One bust of a GM's son for a bust of a manager's son.

They should have found a way to make it a three way trade and got the Cubs involved.  The nortsider's could have added a 26-year old, .227 hitting, Double-A catcher - Michael Brenly (ex-Cubs announcer Bob Brenly's son).

That trade would have included one team dumping their ex-GM's son, another their ex-manager's son and another getting rid of their ex-announcer's son.

You're slipping msf.  Kenny Jr. was a 6th rounder.

BTW, the White Sox still have Kenny's youngest son in their system.  Tyler Williams is a 21 year old third baseman who hit .255 / .317 / .364 for Great Falls this year.  He was only a 43rd round pick by the White Sox in the 2009 draft.  Kyle Williams, the SF 49ers WR, also was a White Sox draft choice.  He was picked in the 47th round in 2006.

Yeah, 6th rounder, sorry. What a freaking waste. It is one thing to spend a draft pick on family with a pick in the round of 40s, but not so early. Hell, Schueler (quiet while he putts) drafted his freaking daughter, now there was a real freaking joke.

heh.. MSF hasn't forgiven Schueler for that 43rd round pick in 1993. Speaking of the 93 draft... we took norton in the first that year right?

No.  Norton was the 2nd round pick in 1993.  Lefty pitcher Scott Christman out of Oregon State University was the White Sox first rounder (17th overall pick).  Christman topped out at Double-A Birmingham where he was 4-12 with a 7.73 ERA over two seasons.  So he was bust they drafted in the 1st round.

The Sox picked Schueler's daughter Carey in the 43rd round in the 1993 draft and only one player who was drafted & signed by another organization had some impact in the majors.  That player was catcher Vance Wilson who was drafted by the Mets in the 44th round (18 picks after the White Sox picked Schueler's daughter).  Since Wilson had a decent career as a backup catcher playing in over 400 MLB games and was drafted after Carey Schueler and before the White Sox picked again, I'm ok was msf holding it against Ron Schueler. Other players signed & drafted after Carey Schueler in 1993 that made the majors were: infielder Frank Menechino (45th round - White Sox), Mario Valdez (48th round - White Sox), Jason Maxwell (74th round - Cubs).

Bobby Howry was drafted in the 45th round by Miami but didn't sign. Same holds true with outfielder Dave Roberts (47th round - Indians), Plácido Polanco (49th round - White Sox), pitcher Mike Lincoln (51st round - Expos), pitcher Matt Wise (54th round - Seattle), 1st baseman Larry Barnes (69th round - Miami) and outfielder Jason Conti (74th round - Padres).
