I think you guys are WAY overvaluing what thorny/floyd/reed are worth to other teams.

I didnt realize he wasnt signed thru next year... so that will lower his price.

But if Braves are offering a blue chipper like delgado + for grenke... Brewers are going to want a lot more then our cast off veterans...

aaaannd you don't have to worry about Greinke anymore. Was fairly shocked by how little the Haloes had to give up. WTF?

Not sure who the AA pitchers were.. but segura is a top 50 prospect... and a top 10 MI prospect at this time.

Mitchell doesnt even crack the top 100 at this time.

I can see them wanting a INF back after losing Lawrie

John Hellweg and Ariel Pena are the AA pitchers...

I've read good things about hellweg... he'd probably be a top 3 in our system...

here is what law had to say about hellweg "At 6'9", the imposing Hellweg and his devastating high 90's fastball could have the highest ceiling of any player in the organization not named Mike Trout."

I'm more concerned with SoxRule being pi ssed off at me. I posted a straightforward baseball "Trades and Rumors" thing here in the hopes that she wouldn't think of me as being total bait-ass. I actually do talk about baseball on a non-retarted level. . . sometimes.

I thought you could after June 1 or something like that.

Andy / MSF would probably know....

i was under the impression its part of the collective bargaining agreement... perhaps the rule states june 1st... before trades... but i thought it was no trading a FA in the first year.

Can you imagine the electric atmosphere at the Cell for Buehrle's first game back as a White Sox? That would be amazing.

However, it's not happening. Have you seen Buerhle's contract? It is so heavily backloaded that no one will trade for him unless the Marlins pick up a huge amount of his salary. And if the Marlins are trying to do a salary dump of players this year, that kind of defeats the purpose for them.

After the Marlins spent all that money, everyone saw it coming a mile away that if they didn't win the World Series in a year or two they would dismantle the team (like they've done the previous times they tried to buy a World Series). Still surprised though that they're giving up 4 months into their new stadium's inaugural season.

Actually, in the past, I recall the Marlins jettisoning high-priced players even if they do make it to the WS, especially in '97.

Right, because they wanted to dump salary after winning the world series instead of trying to win more. But did they pick up any of the tab on those high priced players? Because Reinsdorf is not taking on Buehrle's salary unless the Marlins cover a big part of it.

I'd kick the tires on Jake Arrieta from Baltimore. He's struggled this year, but he sort of reminds me of Jack McDowell that way.
All the tools are there, type of pitcher I could see Coop straightening out quickly.

Yep, the Marlins gain nothing by moving Buehrle if they can't move the salary as well. I don't want to see the Sox take on that salary. Marlins went on a spending **** and now it's biting them in the butt.

June 15 is the day a MLB free agent signee can be traded without his permission.  The player can waive that right in writing in order to be traded sooner.

Method is confusing the wait time on trading players drafted in the 'First Year Player Entry Draft' (Rule 4 Draft).  Players taken then are protected from trade until one full year has elapsed from their signing their initial contract.  Example:  The White Sox can't trade Courtney Hawkins until late June 2013.

Francisco Liriano to the White Sox for Eduardo Escobar and a minor league player.

LHP Pedro Hernandez is the minor leaguer.

I'll buy. I hate to lose Escobar, but Liriano gives us an exceptional #3/#4 pitcher.
