he's already eating it.   paying Rios all of his money but playing a better player is better use of the $38mm

Law loves what Toronto did and doesn't understand Chicago's move.

Stewart, 24, ranked 44th among Keith Law's top 100 prospects prior to the season.  Stewart, who Law said has number two starter potential, posted a 4.20 ERA, 7.1 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, and 0.6 HR/9 in 94 1/3 innings this year at Double-A.

That's just KW's way of saying "sweeten the pot a little more and we may have a deal."

As I posted in the AB thread, I think Rios can still be valuable - hell, even back to AS-caliber form - with the right hitting coach, but JR and KW need to stop this blind loyalty crap and make it happen.

Braves "hot" for Quentin - and #WhiteSox love ATL's young arms. One holdup... the condition of Viciedo's thumb at AAA. Would replace Quentin for #WhiteSox. Hasn't played since Saturday. #Braves #tradedeadline #MLB

I'm going to say NO to Beachy.  My reasons can be summarized by this picture:

Still waiting for someone to bash that guy's twitter name.

...or to write a parody song about him to the Traffic classic...

Dear Mr. Fantasy (Expert)
Give us a rumor
Something, that makes all all happy (like trading Rios)

Get us a hitter who can make us all clap
who will drive in runs and make it snappy

Suit yourself.

Care to make a bet that he'll last through 2014 as a full-time starter without undergoing elbow or shoulder surgery?

And Atlanta has a pretty good track record with pitchers, i.e., keeping those who end up being good for an extended period of time. I'd be really careful about taking a pitcher they're willing to part with.

•Stark has updated his take on Carlos Quentin's availability.  He says there is "increasing evidence the White Sox are talking to several teams about Quentin, one of which is believed to be Atlanta."  An executive of a team that has talked to the Sox says that while they are not "bound and determined" to trade Quentin, they would do it.

The White Sox dangled Adam Dunn.  Dunn has over $48MM remaining on the four-year, $56MM deal he signed in December.

Which bridge did we dangle him from?

Didnt think we could trade Dunn the first year after he signs...

Put him on waivers and see if someone claims him...

Quentin will get moved for a couple of prospects.  One of those will be flipped for Aramis Ramirez.

Thornton to the Yanks for Montero.

Still good enough to make a run for it this year.  Danks can be moved in offseason, if they really want to do that.

What do the Sox want with Ramirez?  He's aging, seems to go on the DL twice a year, and gets 5-10 extra HRs a year by playing in Wragley.  If they're going to cut bait on Rios, go make a deal for a CF.

Is Colby Rasmus available?

don't get the love for Rasmus.  Looks like a career .275 hitter with some pop
