Sox win, if anyone cares. 15 or 16 more of those in a row would be nice.

They'll need to put away four or five more good games like that to convince me they're not crap.  What are we now, 8-11?  Pathetic.

Fuld has made a solid 5-6 amazing plays this year... hes good at playing that whole baseball thing.

I have been impressed by Fuld, from what I've seen of him.  Looks like a really good ballplayer to me.

He's reached his peak and is descending quickly as an effective #1-#3 starter.

I hope KW & Jerry let him leave after this season unless he's willing to take a HUGE pay cut to finish his career here.

Ryan **** Rayburn. Buehrle is toast, he's been bad since the perfect game, even worse after the second half last year, any of you stat lovers care to look up his numbers since then? Need to get the cards GM on the horn pronto

Our only hope is that the Cardinals are somehow in it at the trade deadline and we can pawn Buehrle off on them and get some young prospect in return.  He's finished.

I don't think we'll get a prospect unless the cards overpay, and that's not going to happen cause KW isn't the cards gm

Of course we would get a prospect.  They aren't going to give up a big leaguer.  I didn't say it would be a great prospect.

Mark Buehrle, Carlos Quentin, Dayan Viciedo & $15M to the Cardinals for Colby Rasmus, Mitchell Boggs and Shelby Miller.

Why would we throw in 15 million?

Why the hell would the cardinals trade their closer to be?

That's a bad bad bad bad bad deal for the whitesox... **** its worse the the todd richtie deal or the peavy deal.

Or were you just being sarcastic and living up to your moniker?

Why throw in the $15 million?

That's a bad bad bad bad bad deal for the whitesox..

Because that's what it would probably take (or even more $$$) to make the Cardinals even consider this trade.

The Cardinals are cash strapped.  They wouldn't entertain trading away young, cheap talent for Buehrle, Q and Viciedo without a significant amount of money added into the deal.

Buehrle's contract contains a clause that bumps his salary this year another $1M if he's traded and a 2012 option of $15M is vested if he's traded.  The combined salaries of Buehrle, Quentin & Viciedo this season is over $20M.   The combined salaries of the three Cardinal players is less than $950K.

Rasmus would become the White Sox CF for the next 6 or more years allowing Rios to move to RF with the trade of Quentin.  Rasmus can flat out hit and has the potential to be a star. Boggs goes to the bullpen where he becomes the new closer or the new 7th or 8th inning arm, allowing the CWS to move Sale into the starting rotation in Buehrle's place.  Miller is only 20 years old and was the Cardinal's 'player of the year in the minors for 2010'.  Miller is also the #20 prospect in all of baseball according to mlb.com.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110125&content_id=16496082&vkey=news_stl&c_id=stl

Net result: the CWS save over $5M this season and get a very good, low paid CF , an upgrade in the bullpen & a potential closer, and a projected #2 pitcher that all will have low salaries for the next few years before they reach arbitration.  The White Sox also would retain control over these young players for the next 6 seasons.

Buehrle's on the downside and is just a .500 pitcher who eats innings now.  What's the over and under before Q ends up on the DL again?  Viciedo has nowhere to play in Chicago.

This trade would have the potential to be a steal for the White Sox.

On second thought, the Cardinals would probably laugh at this deal as they'd want more talent and more $$ to make the deal.

Q is still in arbitration... hes cost controlled for this year and next year.

MB is an ACE in the junior circuit... any pitcher with his track record of IP is worth a f'n fortune.

Rasmus would not be our CF for 6 years... hes already has not counting this year 2 years of MLB experience... next year hes arb eligible... so at best we'd have him for 3.5 seasons... considering the sox do not have a good track record resigning players about to hit their first round of FA (not including PK or MB), it is exceedingly unlikely they get Rasmus to sign a LT contract...

It also makes absolutely no sense for the cardinals to trade their only choice at closer at this time... Franklin is poop. Motte is ouchy more often then not... Boggs is going to be la russa's best option... if he hasn't already declared him the closer.

Why would a team looking for post season success decimate their BP and give up their two best tradable commodities in miller and rasmus along with their closer...  it just doesn't make any sense at all. who replaces Boggs?

From the Wsox prespective... if we are all in... why would we give up Q? hes smashing right now... why would we give up MB? we dont have peavy... who takes MB's spot in the rotation (do not say miller).

The sox are also exceedingly cost conscientious... they will not give up on vicedo that quickly... KW would much rather eat his mistakes then admit them and move on...

IF the sox are in all out rebuilding mode... it would be a great trade... IF somehow the cardinals were stupid enough to take it...

The wsox are not in rebuilding mode... at least not for 1-2 more years... hopefully 1 and not 2... because the more time that passes the less i feel this team has a chance to succeed.

To take it one step further... MB/Q could be shipped off in seperate deals with no cash involved and get back way more then packaging them together...

If the cardinals want MB... pay his salary... other teams will... i am sure the Yankees would love to have MB... and we could get AJ's replacement in return... they'd cough up montero/gardner far far easier then the cardinals give up rasmus... and the sox dont have to give any $$$

One more thing... If La russa is not happy with Rasmus's work ethic... i am certain JR wouldnt care to have him on our team.
