I'm not sure if they can quite do that here... Rangolis are pretty complex.

Nice festive touch with the stockings, Andy.  I just hope no one's offended...

As a card-carrying grinch and hater of most-things Christmas (especially those Lexus commercials), I am slightly offended.  But I'll muddle through.

Andy,

Your signature +/or avatar are not blocked, nor have they ever been, by me.

I see on each and every one of your posts a signature line that says:

'“Become good at cheating and you never need to become good at anything else.”

I just looked at your Forum Profile settings, and you have the  'no avatar' box checked in the Personalized Picture section.

You also have the 'Don't show users' signatures' box checked in the Look and Layout section. By checking this box, you can't see anyone's 'signature line' (iincluding your own signature line) in each and every one of their/your posts.

These are the two reasons why your posts don't display an avatar and your signature line is not visible to you.

Once again, in case you are wondering, I have never changed/deleted or modified any of your avatar or signature settings.

Yeah, since it's going to be New Year's Eve, how about a pic of someone passed out in the gutter?

Thanks Andy for the Roller Derby pic. I loved Roller Derby.

You're welcome.  Yes, I remember as a youngster growing up in the city of Chicago watching Roller Derby, All-Star Wrestling out of Minneapolis-St. Paul, followed by the Pro Bowling Tour on ABC on a Saturday late morning to mid-afternoon.  Good times.

BTW, the picture is a Tribune archive photo with the caption:

An estimated 50,000 fans packed the old Comiskey Park to watch the Chicago Pioneers take on the Los Angeles Thunderbirds in a roller derby match in September 1972. The rough-and-tumble sport was invented in Chicago in the 1930s and enjoyed a few decades of popularity, thanks in part to television, before fading in the 70s.

There are also plenty of old Roller Derby/Rollergames video clips available to view at YouTube.

Are members' post counts accurate?  Just wondering.

Not that I care much, but just a few days ago, Wshfl's post count was in the 500s and now it's in the 800s.  I don't think he's made 300 posts in a week.

Makes me wonder if I've made 500-plus posts myself.  Maybe not.

Thanks Andy for the uniform post. Its not a bad looking uniform. I suppose that the usage is to encourage more sales at the park. Personally I like the black ones . I hope we dont go through another uniform switch.

More talent than Santo, but not the better player. Hated Santo, but he did play a real good 3B on D, and he hit consistently for years. Allen was hurt a lot, had other on/off field problems, was not well liked by mgmt etc.... especially when he was a Phillie.

Yes.

Dick "Don't Call Me Richie" Allen wore #15 with the White Sox.

I kept looking at that jersey and kept looking, then it dawned on me. I saw him hit a rope in old Comiskey. Dont think it ever got 15' off the ground. It cleared the wall in LF by a couple of feet. It appeared rocket propelled. If it wasnt for the seats and the stands it would have left the park. Certainly impressed a guy like me. Much more impressive than Kittle's moon shots that went out of the park.

IIRC, Dick Allen also hit a line drive HR into the center field stands (a shot of over 450' that never had a downward arc).

Allen Deserves Hall More Than Santo, Hodges

By Tim Joyce - November 6, 2011

As in life, sentiment often trumps objective judgment when discussing accomplishments in sports. And that's how it should be. We humans are meant to inject some instinctive, heartfelt emotion into our daily actions and passions. The mixing of intuition and objectivity is what makes us different.

But when judging a player's career in a supposedly nonpartisan fashion, it's important to remove as much sentiment as possible to afford the truest accounting of a career. This is the task that confronts the voters for the Baseball Hall of Fame, who each year must discern the great from the very good - while leaving personal bias aside.

This is impossible, obviously, and frequently players make it into Cooperstown who are borderline in terms of accomplishments.

Yup same with this one, still going up when it cleared the wall. Even the foul pole in LF was 353, so you know it had to be 365-375 just to clear the wall.

Maybe I missed something, but what is the progress bar all about (under our board names)? What happens once you reach 100%?

George Carlin's "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television": "shit", "piss", "fuck", "cunt", "cocksucker", "motherfucker", and "tits".
