Viciedo hasnt reached Ruthian proportions yet either.

Are we talking about his hitting or his weight?

Either choice. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Viceido still has ZERO plate discipline.

I want them to stick with Morel. Ventera didn't hit when he came up/ same with Crede.

Morel has been good with the Glove so far from what I've seen.

Viciedo can flat-out hit... which is more than we can say for your boy Morel.

Well your boy Cede couldnt hit either when he first came up and Viciedo hasnt reached Ruthian proportions yet either. I still think Morel can hit big league pitching. Hey I am not expecting 40/40 from Morel but he wont be bad either

Oh and Viciedo is such a great fielder he might take Quentin's job in RF. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Morel will end up like a Brandon Inge... a good fielder that will eternally frustrate fans with his consistent .220-230 batting average.

We need more hitters who can knock in runs.  Viciedo is crushing minor-league pitching.  It's time to find a place for him on the Sox and have a Mentor work with him on his fielding.

I disagree... he wont be anything more then a situational pinch hitter like he was last year...

Ozzie will pick and choose his spots... granted i'd rather have him in that roll then Treehorn.

But as a starter his 9:28 BB to K ratio will hurt bad... and i'm pretty sure 5 of those walks were IBB

Dont know what he is crushing if he is striking out so much. Maybe he has taken up recycling aluminum cans and is crushing them. ;D  ;D ;D ;D

His K rate is actually down a solid 5% from last year from 22+ to just over 17 this year.

Ozzie protected Viciedo last year, and said as much.  An everyday Viciedo would be something like .270/.300/.450 . . .   still better than JP but not a savior.  Lilli or Omar can lead off, cause Beckham's not looking like an everyday player either.  If you sometimes have Beckham, Morel, and the Tank all in the line-up at once, let Rios leadoff.   Or let Viciedo do it . . . break up that muderer's row of fleas with a guy who might actually hit a 2-run shot . .  .

Usually when BlackSox asks a rhetorical question like that, it's a fait accompli.

well, he's hitting.  If he has a few good games, you send Morel down and bring up Viciedo

Morel playing tough defense last night. Took away at least 3 hits if Viciedo were playing 3rd. Morel is playing the best 3B of anybody we have

I concur... and I think he's still underachieving with the bat, so I think that'll come around soon too.  Maybe the 3-run jack is a sign of things to come.  He seems to be overly aggressive at the plate, and isn't waiting for his pitch to drive.

Either way, he's the best option we've got at 3B.

I wouldn't use Viciedo at 3rd.  But Dallas McPherson is here to light a fire under Morel's butt.

Morel should stay at 3B , no matter what.   His defense more than compensates for a .240 average.

Viciedo should be up here playing in the outfield with Pierre on the bench as a pinch runner.

Exactly.  It's Beckham who needs to contribute a lot more with the bat.  Sox can get by with the good-D, no-O 3B if they're getting decent production at 2B.

or vice-versa.  Third base is usually more of a power position, but I think Morel's bat was deemed ok because of (1) his defense  (2) potential for power/hitting at 2B/SS/CF/C and (3) excessive financial obligations.  Without much production at those spots, it puts a highlight on Morel's bat again.  If he hits .240, great.  I'll take him.  But if that .195 crap continued, this would be a much easier position to make a change at than 2nd, SS, or CF.

Robin Ventura sucked big time with the bat in 1990 but was good with the glove, so if morel is gonna play awesome defense then keep him out there, but ozzie needs to do sound keep playing him

Senator, I know Robin Ventura.  I served with Robin Ventura.  Brent Morel is no  Robin Ventura.
