"There are no long term concerns"

I have a concern: what if the lat strain is due to his new & improved delivery?

Lat strain is nothing to take so lightly IMHO.

Well, this was an interesting year, weird, but interesting.

Pleasant pitching surprise - Giolito, Bummer, Marshall & I'll even throw in Jimmy Cordero.

Disappointment - Herrera, Lopez

Gio did it mostly with fastball, change. If he ever develops a curve or slider with snap then look out. Bummer provided the solid Lefty pen arm all teams dream on. Marshall proved once again how important the minor league Free Agent signings are every off season. Cordero filled the right hander back of the pen Minaya role better than Minaya.

Herrera was a complete cluster#foock. I don't know why, he always threw 96-97 & always got hit. The curse of the Sox major league free agent sign. Lopez just regressed albeit with moments of brillance.

The review of Sox pitching in 2019 is really a story of injuries.

Fulmer sucking was no surprise

hitting/position players:

the pleasant surprises: Anderson, Moncada, McCann, Jimenez.

disappointments: Jay, Castillo, Palka & Alonzo.

Anderson has finally lived up to expectations & surpassed them. I don't really care about his lack of walks when he hits like this. Unfortunately he's still an error machine in the field notwithstanding his brilliance with the glove.

I really didn't see this season's performance from Moncada. It's obvious now that he should have been called up as a 3rd baseman.

McCann just looked good all year long. Finally a good FA signing.

Not long ago I wouldn't have had Jimenez on this list - his fielding is really bad (why weren't we warned in any scouting report on him?), but he's raised his BA a good 15 points late in the season so he's got to be on the list.

I really feel sorry for Palka - he was given a spot in the lineup at RF/DH & he just blew up his career.

Because of injuries Jay was a waste, Castillo signed with us before being caught as a juicer, he should be forced to pay back his salary.

Alonzo was just a dumb move.

Avi Garcia hit .281 with 20 HRs in 124 games with the Rays after signing cheap. We spent more on Jay. We spent more on Alonzo. We spent more on Castillo. And we had a hole in RF all year long.

Abreu looks so good with the beard/mustache.    He should keep it always.  — Fashion Police Loveland

Eloy really turned it on once he was healthy. I was a tad worried in 1st half of the season. I also have read, on SoxTalk so not sure if believable, that his defense improved quite a bit during the season. That would be nice, do not want to have to DH a young guy.
