the just pay them when they become Free Agents argument is a childish one. The Sox are a low revenue team, they can't spend like the Yanks, Boston or even the chubbies. That's just the facts my friends, wishing it otherwise is delusional & infantile.
The Sox have to be smart - smarter than rich teams. They can't throw away years of control on a player. They have to draft much better. They have to sign better minor league FAs to fill the bench & insure against injury (Pablo Osuna).
The most disheartening thing about the rebuild is I'm pretty sure the Sox front office is too stupid to pull it off.
Name another team the promotes young pitchers to the majors with horrible minor league stats as the Sox regularly do? Who needs to be able to throw an off-speed pitch in the majors anyway? And what is this curveball I keep hearing about?
Honestly the IQ deficit in the front office is breathtaking.
