The Cubs Model shouldn't be Our Model; the Sox do business differently than the Coob.   Goodwill and Contracts-Through-Arbitration-+1 have served us well.  I don't recall any Board Outrage when Sale was called up in August 2010.

In any event, it's just one Sox fan's opinion that they f*cked this up.

BTW, where's the outrage over blowing a year of Hamilton's service time?   :)

The odds are good that 7 years from now any pitcher we call up today will have arm trouble.

...and, in the last 15 seasons, you can probably count on one hand the total number of "good-to-great" relief pitchers who have spent their entire first seven major league seasons with their original team.

pitchers are definitely a different category.

And there's the age factor - Burr 24, Hamilton 23, Eloy 21. Eloy's agent wants him to become a FA at 27.

Sox call up Bummer and Bill's guy Frare; Nate Jones to the 60-Man.

Expect Welington Castillo to back with the team when Charlotte's season ends as his 80-game PED suspension has ended.

Pete is not going to like reading this blurb

• Palka now ranks second for most home runs by a left-handed hitting White Sox rookie with 21. Pete Ward hit 22 in 1963

The 40-man roster is full and Ruiz isn't on it.  So in order to promote Ruiz to the major league club either Abreu or Leury must be transferred from the 10-day DL to the 60-day DL or someone else currently on the 40-man roster gets moved (traded/released/DFA/outrighted).

Enjoy that extra year of Eloy, because after that, he gone.

If he's the superstar we all hope he is, he'll be gone anyway to whichever team throws the most money at him. He wouldn't care about loyalty to the Sox, only to whomever shows him the money so forgive me for not sharing in the outrage. See you in 2019, Eloy.

And thanks, Theo!  ;)

It happened because Kopeck cut his hair.   Wonder if Old Jerry made him do it?

he'll be racking up service time the whole time he's on the DL, because he's on the major league roster. wonderful.

See what can happen when you promote a top prospect to the majors in late August instead of waiting until mid-April of the next year.  If Kopech's season ended on Labor Day with Charlotte, this probably doesn't happen.

this probably doesn't happen.

Even if it would have happened either way, at least the Sox wouldn't be losing an entire year of control for him to be in rehab. Now they lose a whole year for the handful of innings he got in the major leagues this year. Just a horrible setback all the way around now.

I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure if the UCL is going to go, it's going to go at some point.  If not now, then next spring.   Pete Ward, is that right?
