"Sucked" isn't nearly strong enough to describe that incarnation of TAGS.  Talk about the across-the-board downgrades that show went through:

Ken Berry for Andy
Warren for Barn
Howard Sprague, Goober, and Emmett for Floyd, Gomer, and Ernest T Bass
Helen Cramp for Ellie
And Richie Cunningham for Opie (who had long outgrown that 9-year-old cute naivete by the time the show went color)

And if you think I forgot Aunt Bee, I didn't.  She was never anything on the show other than the source by which the family got fed.
