This Date In White Sox History - May 24th
May 24, 1929 -
In one of the greatest pitching performances in the history of MLB, White Sox starter
Ted Lyons
throws
all 21 innings
in a heartbreaking 6 - 5 loss to the Tigers at Comiskey Park. He allowed 24 hits in the 21 innings. Only two other hurlers had ever matched Lyons mark and no one has ever bettered it. The Tigers & White Sox also completed this 11 run, 42 hit, 21 inning game in only 3 hours and 31 minutes.
