Gonna be up there with the family in mid-December, so I thought I'd take lil' Boat to a Blackhawk game...

Pffffft!  $60 a TICKET to sit in the back of the 300 level.  What a joke.  Who pays that to watch a game that's only slightly more significant than a pre-season tilt?  Insane.

I guess that beats the $160 minimum to sit downstairs, though.

Come up here for TB lightening games... they are much much more affordable.

Looking at them and the Panthers now... definitely more affordable (around $15 per ticket vs. $60).  But, driving over 2 hours each way is a bit much.

Oh well, looks like we'll be sticking with the minor league Everblades.

Everblades

I hope someone didn't get paid for coming up with that one.  Weak...

Though I guess it's better than the Macon Whoopee.

Do they have a cushion night?

Forget the political stuff, Hank Williams Jr should be fired from doing the MNF theme because the song totally sucks butt.

Heh.  I didn't even realize they were still using it.  It made the move from ABC?

They need to just stick with original iconic MNF theme and some helmets exploding or something.  Keep it simple.

We need robots, too.  More robots.  Lots of robots.

That's what Fox tells us, at least.

The original (and consummate) white man's blues.

Once listened to a guy ranting about how Hank kicked down all the doors so that people like Elvis were able to bring rock and roll into the mainstream.  Frothing and spittle aside, I do believe that he made a pretty good case.

Just noticed your "electricity comes from other planets" tagline -- Lou Reed, right?

Yeah, from a VU song.   I'm actually intrigued to hear the Lou + Metallica stuff... could be good.

Going to see Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks this weekend, he used to be lead guy in Pavement. I like his solo stuff. Warren Haynes is the 19th (saw Trucks/Tedeschi at the zoo last month, marvelous, just marvelous). Widespread Panic is the 25th. In November I will see Ray Davies and in December I see Wilco.

I am actually following the NFL in more than a casual way for the first time in more than 20 years, since my team amazingly seems to be on the rise.

Beats watching the terribly flawed World Series.  I fear we will see Texas as the World Champs.

And the moon will turn to blood.

I don't understand whats wrong with more playoff baseball...

I cant stand the unbalanced schedule... would prefer 2 15 team leagues where the top 4 teams make playoffs (balanced schedule required). but I don't mind having more playoff baseball to watch... its either that or methodGF takes over the TV and we watch farking gossip girl or some other insipid nonsense

Method, that's exactly what I propose: two 15-team leagues, no divisions, balanced schedule.  The top two from each league go to the playoffs.  That way, only the very best teams end up playing for the big banana.

I feel for you regarding MethodGF's choices of programming.  Why not curtail TV watching for the most part after baseba?  Suggest other activities (outdoor, indoor, whatever) in lieu of spending evenings in front of the tube.

Un-American, I know.

Honestly... the new job requires 10-11 hour days (not including driving out to clearwater and back), dont have much time for TV... when i get home i geek out learning more APEX and Oracle and perhaps partaking in some herbal remedies... generally I have my nose in the laptop and she has control of the remote.... unless there is a Sox/USF bulls/Rays(towards the end of the year) game on.... or baseball/football playoff games... in which case i take over the TV and the PC :)

Its one of her biggest complaints... that while we're together we're not doing something together... blah

The WC is actually a great way to find a 4th team.  Cards won their division and the WS a few years ago with what, 83 wins?  The WC typically wins at least 90 games.  I don't really see the issue with it.  Better than having a crap second place team make the playoffs.

Its obvious Loveland's spellchecker is broken today, but makes a great point... Atleast we'll always get the cubs.
