I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about Terry Collins' decision to pull Jose Reyes to protect his batting title after a bunt single in the first of their finale. Seems kinda pussified to me.

EDIT- hah! "Pussified" sneaks by the censor.

Has Jeter noticed the Brewers' usage of "Beast Mode" this postseason?

Yes. Yes, he has.

It's kind of odd though, they call it beast mode but the origin is not attributed to Juan Pierre (which I of course have a big problem with). They're imitating some character from the Monsters Inc. movie that Prince Fielder saw his kid doing. Something like that.

Rooting for a Brewers-Tigers WS.  Brewers-Rays backup plan.

Fuk the Rangers!

Would definitely love to see the Brewers make it but Valverde makes it hard for me to root for the Tigers.

Screw the tigers... rooting for Rays all the way.

Can we hire their entire front office?

Wow, who woulda thought the Cards would beat the Phillies? I thought it was impressive that they hung tough all season and won the Wild Card but I'm sure most people figured they were just winning the chance to lose to the Phillies.

What is ESPN going to do without any of their east coast teams left in the playoffs?   ;D

future 'talking point' for KW when the 2012 White Sox payroll is slashed by 30+%:

'Final four' MLB teams rank 10th, 11th, 13th, `17th in payroll. Sox and Cubs fifth and sixth, respectively.

Spending $$ gives you a good chance to make the playoffs most years (see Yankees and Red Sox) if you spend the money every year.  Once the playoffs start it's the team with the hot hand that wins.  In addition, the teams that consistently make the playoffs (Yankees, Red Sox and now Phillies) way outspend everyone else.

The only thing being number 5 in spending every couple of years means is that there is a good chance you're wasting your money those years.

I agree with Pete, need to consistently spend, build up the minors, take selective FAs. That is how you keep a winner. It takes years.

I'd rather see the Tigers make it to the WS rather than the Rangers. I never could get into anything down there in Texas including the cottonmouths, fireants, and armadillos.

Cards make it to the WS against the Rangers... didnt see that coming at the start of the year... Rangers yes... Cards not even close.

Would be something if they managed to win it again.

And this is why sometimes the Wild Card really is helpful. The Cards won 90 games, so it's not like they backed into the playoffs or that they only made it because the Braves collapsed. But they did make it and are now going to the World Series.

Between the Cards and Brewers I was pulling for the Brewers sine the Cards have been there (and won it) recently. But hopefully next year for the Brewers. It would also be nice if they could somehow retain Fielder too, although that seems unlikely.

I'm sure Cub fans are hating this but the Cards are a class organization. And say what you want about LaRussa but the guy gets his team to win.
