I guess I just see it differently. The regular season record is what it takes to get to the postseason. Once you're in, anything can happen. So yeah, the Tigers were mediocre most of the season but they always had a good team and are now clicking at the best possible time. I see nothing wrong with saying they're the best team in baseball if they win the world series, regardless of their regular season record.

Give them credit, they manned-up when it counted. (I don't know if manned-up is a word but you know what I mean).

And by the way, if the Sox were in the exact same situation as the Tigers now, I'd have a problem with people questioning our team being in the world series. My response would be what I said above, "hey, we're hot and playing great ball and we deserve to be there."
