Speaking about not missing meals.

I retired in 2011. In the 6 years I have been retired and not doing a damn thing I have lost over 60 pounds. Now back to what I weighed when I was in the USAF. I walked some early on, 2-3  miles every morning, but blew out my knee portaging on fishing trip about 4 years ago and have not walked for exercise since. Just getting out of the stress made a huge difference. I did basically stop drinking booze, altho I may have a beer once every month or two. Bigger change was due to stopping the consumption of diet pepsi. No sodas anymore, lots of water.

Sorry to pat myself on the back, proud of it, but something I could have done long ago if I had just put my mind to it. Stress is a bad hombre.

I do get up early every morning, feed the deer and work in the woods out back getting rid of buckthorn and garlic mustard, a bit every day so I guess I cannot say I do not exercise but it is not boring like walking. Mama Doe brought her two new fawns up in the yard yesterday and paraded them around for me. Such cute little things, crow-hopping in the yard. If you ever want to give a deer a treat give them a Pink Lady apple, they love those better than anything else.

An optimistic piece on the rebuild.

Thanks Joey. We do need to get rid of some dead weight in the minors. Barnum, Hawkins, Michalczewski and a boatload of pitchers need to just be cut and replaced. Burdi had been going well, but last night he gave up 5 runs in the 9th trying to save a 1-run lead. His first bad outing in quite a while, it happens.

Let the "dead weight" take up space until it's ready to be filled by a kid.

The kids' development should be done at their pace - not based on what a minor league team needs.

By some crappy weather circumstances and cancelled flights, i drove back from Huntsville to tampa on thursday.

11 hours of MLB radio in Sirius. Smoltz was on in the evening and mentioned something that really caught my attention. He said when he was coming up and when he first got to the majors, pitchers were given the chance to fail and learn from their mistakes. Now if they fail the first few starts they get shipped off to the BP.

Glavine went 7-17, maddux once went 6-14. I hope we dont rush the rebuild and give the new wave a chance to learn from failure.

so like Joey said, lets not rush this.

Lol, yikes. I loved Keith Foulke back in 2000.
