When did this thread become so... dead?

Link kinda says it all... but it also suggests we trade Robertson... sounds like a really smart guy.

i agree with him 10000000000%

Trade Q for a bat. Wait till after the big FA sign if you dont like the offers on the table now. Whoever loses out will want SPs.

I doubt we can get Seager from dodgers for Q, but Q+ something can get it done i'd wager.... esp if they lose on ZG and Price.

There is also some talk the dodgers want to cut their payroll to below 240 mill for next year... that makes Q's contract a good target for them.

There hasn't been much media coverage of the Beloved lately.   Although Kenny has been talking a lot lately, much to my chagrin.

KW says they havent decided on a direction yet... WTF

Where's that "flying under the radar" picture? They have an idea of what they're going to do but not going to announce it publicly. Or they're in wait and see mode right now. See what some of the offers might be for our trade chips and let that dictate the course you choose. There's nothing wrong that. We know you're in the blow-it-all-up camp but that realistically is not going to happen.

It's barely December and no major free agent has signed anywhere yet. There's plenty of offseason time yet.

this team lost 86 games last year. finished 19 games behind the Royals. Management still hasnt decided on a direction 1 month after the end of the season?

If i went to my boss and told him, hey the real estate transaction i'm working on isnt going to pan out... i'll be back to you in 3 months about what direction we're going to go in. I'd lose my job on the spot.

Mean while other teams are filling holes and trading away very good pieces that could help our team while we sit by awaiting a direction and then pick through the scraps.

I cant wait to end up with Mark Trumbo as our big off-season acquisition.... that is exactly where this is going right now.

670 The Score Interview: Don Cooper on Inside the Clubhouse (12/05/2015)

Longtime White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper jumped on with Bruce Levine and Mike Esposito to discuss various offseason topics, including Jeff Samardzija, who Don feels like he "failed" in 2015.

The podcast of the 12/19/15 White Sox Weekly includes audio clips from Todd Frazier, an interview with Brett Lawrie and  MLB Network's/Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci talks about the moves the White Sox made so far this off-season and what he thinks of Eric Johnson, etc.

Great read... thanks for posting.

I liked this snippet:

Quote
Is there anything the White Sox are doing differently with Tim, in contrast with Gordon Beckham — likewise a first-rounder shortstop who sped his way through the Sox system — eight years ago?

With regards to Beckham, one of the larger issues for him was that he never failed prior to getting to Chicago.

Obviously, you don’t want a player to struggle at any point in their career, but there is something to be said for them learning how to dig themselves out of adversity.  Those lessons are much easier to learn somewhere in the minors and away from the scrutiny of the bright lights of the majors. Since struggles are inevitable in the majors for every player, there is a fair amount of benefit for them having gone through it in the minors, which prepares them to be able to adapt and rebound once it happens in Chicago.

Translation: Beckham was a mental midget.

The more I learn about Hahn, the more I like him.

Quote
In this day and age, do the White Sox have anything near a “number” that ends up being assigned to a player? We fans have WAR now, in spite of whatever imperfections and controversies; do the White Sox have their own secret sauce that breaks things down similarly, beyond the 20-80 scale or eye test?

We do not look strictly at one all-encompassing number. We look at a bunch of different metrics that we trust and combine it with the subjective evaluation.

Yes he was. I do think there is something to this. That Davidson kid has had two years of adversity now (he has stunk). This spring he seems to be doing pretty well, at least he was last I looked. Maybe this is a kid that has learned from adversity (tho I highly doubt it).
