There are only a small handful of great hitters who have made good batting coaches. Offhand, I can't think of any.  But there must be a few.

Plus, I'd kind of like to see Frank Thomas just go away and re-surface for HoF honors, then go away again.

I know one great hitter that didnt exactly make a great hitting coach and that was Ted Williams. Now he did have disciples. Charlie Lau wasnt a great hitter but he was a great hitting coach

Come to think of it, Frank Thomas is a disciple of Walt Hriniak, who in turn was a disciple of Charlie Lau.  And I don't particularly care for that hitting method.  So... cancel my earlier suggestion.

Maybe Ron Kittle instead.

See, there are career options other than broadcasting after you've retired from professional athletics.

I was more struck by the terrific photo quality of mug shots these days- color, clarity, everything.

Jay Mariotti charged with felony stalking and assault

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2011/05/espn-personality-jay-mariotti-charged-with-felony-stalking-and-assault-after-allegedly-confronting-ex-girlfriend.html

I think it bears repeating that the most astounding, stupefying thing about this story is that Mariotti ACTUALLY HAD A GIRLFRIEND.  I mean, who would think.... ???

Is Telander 'trying to make a mountain out of a molehill' or is the Williams/Guillen family feud 'back on - big time'?

Coooooooop!

Funny that we've never seen a reclamation project work on the offensive side...
