Damn, I already used my 20 pages at the Sun-Times reading the crime news. Can't wait to see how that whole subscription thing works out for them.

Joe Cowley has entered Jay Mariotti territory. He has a huge vendetta against KW and the Sox now and will do anything to portray them in a bad light.

I liked some of the commenters and how they'd get into scuffles.

There were like 125 comments (a lot for the S-T) after the article where they announced it and I think all but 3 or 4 were of the "buh bye and you guys are screwed even more that you were before" nature.

If Cowley has a vendetta against the Sox, it's only because of Kenny.  So I can't blame him too much.

Kenny needs to get gone as soon as possible.

Cowley is supposed to be a professional and report without bias.

From a Tribune article on Jake Peavy:

I'm not, in any way, bashing Ozzie," Peavy said in a telephone interview. "He took this franchise to the World Series (in 2005), and now he has a chance to fulfill a challenge in Miami. But we all saw (Guillen's departure) needed to happen — for both sides. I don't think it's a shock what I'm saying. We have a fresh face (Ventura) with a new attitude and a guy who is highly respected."

"Ozzie didn't care for me at the end because I was shut down," Peavy said. "It didn't end on good terms. The one thing about it, Coop and I have an open relationship. There was one time where I disagreed about something he said about me being on and off after coming back from the surgery, and I told him about it.

Not really.  He's a columnist, so he can inject his own point of view.

Who? Peavey? Rios? Oh yeah, they have to be good players because they are making so much money.

SoxFest represents fresh start for Dunn
After miserable 1st season with Sox, he faces fans with hope he can rekindle career[/size

By Dave van Dyck, Chicago Tribune reporter -3:53 p.m. CST, January 21, 2012

In what can be classified as either one of the bravest moves ever or one of self-flagellation, Adam Dunn will appear at this weekend's SoxFest.

Given that anyone who is 6 feet 6, weighs somewhere on either side of 300 pounds and usually has a big scruff of beard is hard to disguise, White Sox fans certainly will know their villain. And they are expected to let him know about it, as if he already hadn't heard enough last summer.

But, hand it to Dunn, he's not backing away — at least that's what the pre-Fest publicity sheets tell us — from loyal fans who gave him more chances than he actually gave to opposing pitchers.

Dunn has balls for appearing there, I've gotta say.

I think it's a great move by Dunn to attend SoxFest. If he didn't, fans would be irate that he stayed away so he didn't have to "face the music." I really hope the fans aren't hard on him. I mean, seriously, give the guy a break. He heard enough last summer, give it a rest now.

If he's starts off tanking again during the season then the boo-birds can come out again (even then I don't like booing a player unless it's clear the guy doesn't care and is just mailing it in).

I know that's not how it works, though. Fans are going to call him every name in the book I'm sure. And that will really help Dunn do better this year!

Maybe he'll just clock the first a-hole heckler.  He is 6-6, after all.

I'd be tempted if it was me.

Has the years marketing slogan been released yet or will that happen at SoxFest?

I believe the kids over in Mom's Basement have broken that news.   Something about fan-created videos.  Sounds awesome!

"White Sox Baseball. Appreciate the Game"

Wow- someone got paid to come up with that. Although I do like how it tempers one's expectations in a way. "They suck, but, you know, s t f u and 'appreciate the game'".

Knock yourselves out loosers:  http://www.poptent.net/assignment/387

Wow, the censor caught s t f u (without spaces)?
