Remind me again why we're bashing Jim Thome?

I think it's because we traded our dynasty (Rowand) for him.

Although, it could just be kind of fun...

Be prepared to dig into your pocketbook if you want online access to Chicago area newspapers' sites. The free ride, especially for the out-of-towners, will soon be over.

Back in September, the Daily Herald put in a paywall to view most of the content at their website.

The Sun-Time Group announced that they'll be doing the same at all their websites later this week.  The Sun-Time Group will however charge a significantly lower cost than the Daily Herald is asking for unlimited monthly online access to their site

I'm guessing the Chicago Tribune might wait a couple of months to gauge the public response before adopting a similar program in the very near future.

Sun-Times to start charging for websites

By Anna Marie Kukec

Online newspaper subscriptions gained traction Tuesday in the Chicago and suburban market when Sun-Times Media said it will ask readers to start paying for online content later this week. Sun-Times Media CEO Jeremy Halbreich said in a memo to employees that the company will begin “metering” its websites, meaning web readers will be asked to buy an online subscription after they’ve read a set number of pages on Sun-Times Media newspaper sites. Besides the Chicago Sun-Times, those included in the pay system are the Beacon-News (Aurora), The Courier-News (Elgin), The Herald-News (Joliet), Lake County News-Sun (Gurnee), Post-Tribune (Merrillville, Ind.) and the SouthtownStar (Chicago Heights).

“Quality journalism is not free,” Halbreich said in the memo. “We are committed to producing the best locally focused news and feature stories in the region, and will continuously develop appropriate business models to support our journalism into the future. This move is just one of many digital initiatives currently under way, including the very successful launch of our Chicago Sun-Times tablet and mobile apps, along with our e-Paper and e-Reader programs.”

Those papers are grasping at straws.  What will happen is that more free independent online sources of news will spring up and they'll kill the newspapers that are trying to convert to a paid digital format.  People will choose the free info and the indies will figure out a way to make money through banner ads, etc.

I guess I was hoping for a Chairman Reinsdorf miracle the way it happened with Paul Konerko.

But no. Not happening. Not happening in large part because Jake Peavy, Adam Dunn and Alex Rios killed all hope last season and kill the payroll next season and for several seasons after that.

Talk about pain: The one Sox player who deserves Sox money as much as Konerko is gone because of those three thieves. Season tickets on sale now.

A guy the Sox need and a player the fans want has to leave while the pariahs stay. Thanks, Jake. Thanks, Adam. Thanks, Alex. Thanks, Ken.

Guess Erin Andrews will have to get a new wardrobe when she covers MLB and the Trib writers will have to stop wearing their Cubs' paraphernalia:

MLB issues dress code guidelines for media members

by -Ben Walker - The Associated Press

DALLAS — Muscle shirts, ripped jeans and flip-flops — fine for the beach, not so fine for big league press boxes starting next season.

Baseball has become the first major pro league in North America to issue dress guidelines for media members, putting them in writing at the winter meetings.

The no-wear list also includes visible undergarments, excessively short skirts or anything with a team logo.

Couldnt disagree. Its why Kenny deserves to be replaced. Buehrle gone because of those three stealers

I prefer Kenny.  It sounds more childish and immature.

Maybe I'll mock up a parody of that with all of Kenny's great moves.

It's kind of sickening to see him in that Miami uniform.  What a great asset to the Sox he's been.  He just kept producing, year after year.
