We should probably find a position for Romy Gonzalez to play...

Just read he has had an elbow problem. It is better now and he has played 5 games in CF recently. Now that arm is healthy I guess we will see if he returns to infield or stays in the OF. Dude can hit.

MSF: Your guy Zach Thompson worthy of a 40-man add & a Sept call up?

I think so. 40-man for sure, callup does not matter. But we sure need a bullpen. Tired of our starters doing well and getting nothing for it.

Burr was called up instead of Hamilton because he needs to be on the 40 roster this Fall, Hamilton doesn't.

Guys at AAA needed to be rostered - Zevala, pitchers Adams, Stephens, Frare, Guerrero.

At least Thompson from AA.

Sox are going to have to designate for assigment or just release a lot of guys this Fall. I'd start by clearing out the bullpen.

I think that 6 does it. I doubt Mendick needs to be rostered tho I like him as a player.

Brennan finally has seemed to put it together, but he's too old & has been a 4th round bust for too long.

Danny Dopico  is just minor league roster fodder.

Min can correct me if I'm wrong

Forgot Kodi Medeiros! that makes 7.

Sox won't protect Banks, I actually hope someone picks him and gives him a chance.

Dopico not fodder. Might have best stuff of our minor league pitchers, 4 quality pitches, finally showing some command. The staff likes him.

Guerrero can be left off 40 man, he is just a guy, nothing special. If real tight for 40 man, even Stephens can be left off. Right call with Mendick and Brennan, they do not need to be on 40 man even though I like them both.

Forbes eligible for rule 5, but I hate putting A ball players on roster like we foolishly did with Adolfo & Basabe last year.

Doubt anyone would take him. Leave him off. I think we need to hang onto Rivera, see how he does in AFL.

I guess Robert isn't really that fast, but he uses what speed he has extremely well:

he has a 65 run grade tool, good but compared to others mentioned with 75 & 70 grades not elite. But his Spd score is tops.

AFL starts today. I know each MLB team is supposed to only contribute 6 players to a team, but the Glendale roster lists 7 Sox. The additional guy is Min's guy Danny Dopico.

In the first game of the AFL, the Glendale Desert Dogs lost to the Peoria Javelinas 8-7.  Luis Robert went 1-4 and walked, scored twice and had an RBI.  Laz Rivera went 2-3 with a double and a single, scored once and also had an RBI.  He was also hit by a pitch.

For the pitchers, Zach Thompson pitched a scoreless 2/3 of an inning, giving up one hit.  Zack Burdi also pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing one hit, but gave up 3 unearned runs.  Danny Dopico pitched one inning and allowed 2 earned runs on two hits.

Tanner Banks and Luis Basabe are also on the team, but did not see action today.
