Johnny Field considered among top outfielders available, and he can play CF. Jordan Guerrero is considered top LH pitcher available. Jake Peter did not make the list.

Sox roster at 36. Save 2 spots for possible FAs & draft 2 guys.

BTW, I'd sign Hanson, Putnam & Petricka to minor league FA contracts.

that lefty ranked behind Guerrero, Nestor Cortez (yankees) really has great minor league stats.

Do you have an update on Zack Burdi’s recovery? When is a realistic time to see him in the majors?
— Mike, Oak Lawn

The hard-throwing Burdi underwent Tommy John surgery July 27 and Hahn said late last month that the 22-year-old right-hander is “progressing just fine.” Hahn went on to say that it is conceivable Burdi could begin ramping up his throwing by the All-Star break and that a “nice goal” would be to have him pitching without restrictions by spring training of 2019.

The Sox will not rush the Downers Grove native who was their first-round pick (26th overall) in the 2016 draft, but if his recovery goes according to plan, Burdi could have a role as soon as the 2019 season.

For those who still might think Hahn did not do well in his big trades last year:

Chuck Garfien‏Verified account

Peter Gammons on White Sox prospect haul from Nationals a year later: "I thought that was amazing.  To get three big-time arms. The trade with the Red Sox was really good. There are guys down below in that trade that are going to still end up helping them."

Of course, just about all the responses from around baseball last year were very, very high in their praise for what Hahn did. Not saying this is going to work out in the end like we all hope but it will not be due to incompetence, that's for sure.

I think the Sale trade to Boston was the worst of the big 3 trades.

Trade with the Nats was very good & I think the trade with the Cubs will turn out very well.

The Boston trade is the only one I question - Sale was our best player & 2 of the 4 guys we got in return are bums.

that catcher - Mercedes - we got in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft may actually be a decent prospect.

He is saying he wouldn't be surprised if he did due to talent... The way the Sox rush young hitters I wouldn't be surprised either.

Moncada? That’s crazy. His OPS was excellent for a rookie

His best season wss his rookie year. Very good. One more year in the minors wasn’t going to make him a better hitter
