Those HS kids weren’t going to college

But they had the leverage.  Vaughn wasn't going back to college either.  A $500K under slot savings would have probably gotten them one of their HS picks to sign.

Andy, I read what you posted & it says of the top 7 drafted 6 have signed with 4 of the 6 signing at slot value & 2 slightly under.

Mn, can you explain the cash limits on the 1st 10 rounds & what's different with the bonuses after the 1st 10 rounds - how they're counted differently?

You get money slots for the first 10, 1st round being highest of course and 10th round still decent. Round 11 through round 40 they are allowed 125K and can use any of the money saved in the first 10 rounds to entice a couple with 500K etc....  Now every pick from 11-40 does not have to get 125K, many only get 2.5K or 5K, but that savings cannot be used towards any other pick.

Thus the strategy of blowing picks in rounds 5-10 on bum seniors that you can sign for $20K?

Tyler Johnson pitched an inning at W-S. Good to see he's back.

Dylan Covey pitched a couple of innings at Charlotte. Hard to believe but the Sox need him in the rotation.

Burdi out for the rest of the year with a torn patellar tendon?!?!  I guess that's better than having arm issues, but he's proving to be quite injury-prone.

Good Lord! So many injuries to pitchers.

Still wondering what happened to Hamilton & that guy we got from KC, AJ Puckett.

Ian Hamilton suffered multiple facial fractures when hit in the face by a line drive a few weeks ago and will miss the rest of the season.

Vince Arobio spent 2 yrs in A ball basically stinking.

This yr he goes from low-A to High-A to AA. Wonder what turned it around for him?

In his last 4 starts Cease has allowed 16 earned runs in 17 innings.

Only the Sox front office would consider this the right time to call him up.

Sheets isn't the HR hitter we thought he was when drafted.

the Barons seem to have shaken off their team slump. Rutherford in the .260s now, Rivera in the .240s.

Noticed that C Yermin Mercedes career BA is over .300. We got him in the minor league part of the Rule 5 draft a couple of yrs ago. He's 26  hitting the cover off the ball in AAA. Why isn't he considered a prospect? He deserves to be on the Sox more than Collins.

They should look at Mercedes like the Twins looked at Astudillo. The guy can hit, likely can catch as well as Collins altho they say Mercedes is brutal on passed balls, but he can throw guys out who are stealing.

Birmingham is a tough place to hit HRs. Sheets has 9, pace for 15-20, that means he could hit 20+ in the bigs. Maybe he will gain more power too, seems to have a good eye and seems to have a clutch bat. Pretty good numbers after the start he had.
