Robert had a second SB and threw a guy out at third. Pretty darn impressive AFL for him.
Yes, he has really gotten hot of late, kicking some ass.

The Desert Dogs lost to the first place Javelinas 3-1.  It was a pitchers duel through five scoreless innings.  Then Zach Thompson came on to start the sixth and promptly gave up 3 hits (2 of them were doubles) and two walks in 0.2 innings, giving up all three of the Javelinas runs.  Thompson’s ERA soared to 4.15.  The Desert Dogs record fell to 8-13, seven games behind the Javelinas.  Their magic number for being eliminated from the playoffs is 3.

Rivera and Basabe each went 0-2.  Rivera’s BA is at .255 while Basabe’s BA dropped below the Mendoza line to .192.

The AFL West defeated the AFL East this afternoon in the AFL All Star Game 7-6.

Luis Robert was the only Sox prospect to see action and he went 0-4 with two K’s.

Well, I think neither Thompson nor Dopico deserve to be put on 40 man roster. No one will take them in Rule V and if they do they will not make that team and we can take them back if we want.

Yesterday, the Desert Dogs were whipped by the Saguaros 10-1.  The Desert Dogs record dropped to 9-14.

Luis Robert had two singles in four at-bats, raising his AFL BA to .367.

Laz Rivera went 0-3, dropping his AFL BA to .241.

Danny Dopico pitched mop up duty in the ninth inning of a blowout game and gave up one earned run on 3 walks.  He did record one strikeout.  His ERA is still respectable at 3.38, but he definitely has exhibited some control issues in the AFL that he will need to resolve.

The Desert Dogs dropped a 6-4 contest against the Solar Sox on Wednesday.  The Desert Dogs records dropped to 9-15.  They have been mathematically eliminated from AFL post-season play as the Peoria Javelinas have clinched the AFL West.

Luis Robert went 1-4 with a walk.  His one hit was a solo HR (see Method's post above).  It was his second HR of the AFL.  His overall BA is .358.

Tanner Banks started the game, but didn't do well.  He pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 5 ER's on 5 hits and a walk.  Two of the hits that he gave up were HR's.  He also had a wild pitch.  His ERA ballooned to 5.19.

Zach Thompson pitched the fifth and sixth inning and gave up no runs while allowing one hit and one BB.  His ERA is 3.38

Roberts went 3 fer 4 today (.386) - His AFL stats a real relief after a pretty bad year in the minors.

Dopico walked 3 in 2/3rds of inning. He just can't throw strikes.

Robert had a couple minor injuries this season. Now he is healthy. He is en fuego, SB too. Dopico is really struggling. Thompson has bounced back a bit. Still not worried about 40 man, I highly doubt anyone would keep him on 25-man roster if selected in Rule V.

A July call up would be stupid, he hasn't even played in AA yet. He has a little time at high-A where he performed poorly.

Agree with Bill. No rushing kids anymore, please. Start him in AA (maybe even High A), if he does well, promote to AAA. Similar track as Eloy this year. Poorly is a bit harsh however, he just did not perform up to his ability. Not like he stunk.

Basabe 0-4 too, he has been horrid. Thinking he is not going to make it.

IMO Basabe has always been the most overrated guy in our minors. His career minor league BA is .248.

Still young, if his defense is good he could be a bench player.

Laz Rivera has been the guy who has been a disappointment in the AFL this year.

Good tweet:

#WhiteSox Luis Robert has collected a 14-game hit streak in Arizona.

As one scout told me, “If you ever want to feel completely inadequate as a human being, go stand next to Luis.”

Is Burdi hurt?  He hasn’t pitched in the AFL in a couple of weeks.

Basabe & Rivera both 1 fer 4, Roberts 1 fer 5

Min's guy Dopico gave up 3 runs in 1 inning (6.57)
