Break up the Desert Dogs!  They are on a roll after winning 2 out of their last 3, improving their overall record to 2-9.  Today, they defeated the first place Peoria Javelinas 6-2.

Zach Thompson pitched to the minimum 6 batters over the 5th and 6th innings, getting the first batter to fly out and then struck out 5 batters in a row!  Nice!  His overall ERA improves to 1.59.

Luis Robert returned from a week long vacation and singled in the second inning and later scored, lined out in the third inning, flied out in the fifth inning, and struck out in the seventh inning.  Robert's overall BA is .286.

The Desert Dogs were soundly beaten by the Javelinas on Tuesday by a score of 8-1.  The Desert Dogs record dropped to 2-10.

Basabe led off and went 0-2, but did draw two BB’s.  His overall BA is .250.

Laz Rivera hit second in the lineup and had one hit (a double) in four at bats.  He also scored the only Desert Dogs’ run.  His overall BA is .231.  Rivera also committed an error, which led to one unearned run.

Burdi had mop up duty and pitched a scoreless ninth inning, maintaining his 0.00 ERA.  He did allow one hit and tallied one K.

Glendale won again.

Laz Rivera 1 fer 5, 2 rbi

Dopico - 1 scoreless inning, but walked 2.

Dopico's problem is definitely control. Walks, WPs & HBs way too high.

In five at bats, Luis Robert lined out, grounded out, reached on an error by the 3Bman and later scored, FO to LF, and homered to CF.  His overall BA dipped slightly to .286.

In four at bats, Laz Rivera lined out to SS, struck out swinging, singled to LF, and lined out to RF.  His overall BA also dipped slightly to .273.

I think Robert had a single in first that scored the first run. So game winner, heh

I like this Thompson kid ever since they put him in the pen.

Tall glass of water, about 6-7. Throws hard, max around 96. Not sure on breaking stuff. Has been lights out since moving from rotation to pen. Seems like the kind of kid that really needed that change and has a real good shot at making it next year if he starts out well in AAA.

Dopico with another nice outing, ERA down to around 2.60 or so now. He, Banks and Thompson are doing really well.

On Wednesday, the Desert Dogs defeated the Rafters 12-6 in 10 innings, improving their overall record to 8-11.  This marks the first time this season that they don't have the worst record in the AFL after passing the Surprise Saguaros (7-12).  Still a longshot to catch the first place Peoria Javelinas (13-6).  Their magic number from being eliminated from the playoffs is 7.

In 6 at-bats, Laz Rivera went 1-5 with a walk and an RBI.  His overall BA is .265.

Tanner Banks started the game and pitched 5 innings.  He gave up 5 runs, but only 2 of them were earned.  He gave up 8 hits, no walks, and struck out 6 batters.  He also had a wild pitch.  His ERA is 4.91.

Danny Dopico pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief, giving up one hit, no walks, and striking out 4 batters.  His ERA improved to 2.79.

In four at-bats, Luis Robert had an RBI single to CF (stole a base and scored), singled again to CF, PO to 1B, and walked.  His BA improved to .341.

No other White Sox prospect played.

Robert had a second SB and threw a guy out at third. Pretty darn impressive AFL for him.

He better be. He and Dopico both. I would take both of them over Minaya or Vieira.
