Wish we had taken Libatore at 4.

Madrigal is a nice change of pace, a college player who makes contact.

Sox take Lency Delgado in the 4th. HS SS, 19 years old and already at 6 3, 210 lbs. Not very highly rated.

We left a fantastic collect pitcher in Tristan Beck on the board (went 5 picks later to Angels). He was hurt last year but appears to be pitching very well recently for Sanford. He flashed a great CB and Change up.

Round 5 is another reach in Jonnathan Stiever.

Kumar Rocker, cole wilcox and Nader De Sedas are all on the board (all expected to be hard signs). Zack Hess would have been an easy sign here out of LSU he's a senior and has no leverage. Much better pick then Stiever.

First 3 picks were all really good value picks. Singer would have been prefered in the 1st.
Steele was rated 25-30th and we got him in the 2nd (pick 46). Konner our 3rd rounder was rated between 55-63 we got him at 81.

Madrigal was probably a top 5 bat... Singer was arguably the #2 pitcher on the board. Not sure why he fell so far.

Rays have absolutely CRUSHED this draft.

Getting Singer and Shane Mc with pick 17 and 31 is phenomenal.

Makeup is what brought Singer down.

Scouting report says Pilkington's velocity dropped from mid 90s to 88-91. Another Giolito.

Is this the "scout" who recommended Pilkington to the White Sox?

Madrigal is the best hitter in the draft. Sox had him 1 overall. Of all players. Not like these guys havent been scouted extensively. Pretty sure the Sox have a better clue than anyone here

Someone in the White Sox organization must be a big Larry King fan as they drafted his younger son in the 37th round.  The Sox drafted King's older son Chance last year in the 39th round. At least there was no Reinsdorf grandson this year.

AAA - Roach 7 IP 5 H 0 ER

A - Battenfield 6 IP 4 H 1 ER

I see Brad Goldburg was traded to Arizona.

The guy who has most surprised me is Zach Thompson. He was drafted out of HS in Texas by us a few years back, maybe a 5th or 7th rounder. Big tall kid who throws hard. Has been a starter all along and just never put it together consistently. Good start followed by two bad ones etc... They finally put him in the pen this year, starting out as a long inning guy, and he has done so well he is the ace setup guy now in the pen. ERA is down to 2.01, not walking many anymore and striking out a good number. He may really be someone who makes it. He and Hamilton and Burdi will all have good chances of making the bullpen in time.

ACE setup guys is the new major market inefficiency, the Josh Haders of the world. get 2-3 of them in your pen and shut the game down after the 6th. Brewers are 28-0 so far this year when leading after 6 innings.

Looking over the draft, i am really happy with the first 2 picks. Steele looks to be a steal, not just a big raw power guy but has a good hit tool. Likely better prospect then Burger right now.

Konnor doesnt turn heads with the radar gun, but appears to command 3 pitches really well and is fairly young for his experience level (still only 20).

4th round pick looks to be our Kenny Williams this year, he is described as "athletic, but slow down the line with a long swing that takes a while to get through the strike zone".   yuck. he is also old for level, he turns 19 next month.

the gamble on Pilkington is that he will recover the lost velocity.

the 4th round pick is the guy that Sox scout in Florida was crazy about.

Zack Thompson was a 5th round pick way back in '14 - Texas Arlington I believe. before this yr the only noteworthy thing about him was height. I was wondering if he would be protected from the rule 5 draft after this year. probably not as he's still in A ball.
