Thats why Ozzie wants to manage the Marlins, right? What an organization to work for!

Twins were once 50-56.  Now 59-93.  Ouch.  That's a run of 9-37.  Can't believe too many teams have been that bad in a 46 game stretch in quite some time.

Wow!

The last time we played them I had the Twins feed and their was no joyous "Circle me Bert"  conversation going on.  They sounded really reaaly frustrated.

Amazing, lots of rumors going around about Mauer, now it is being called slignt pneumonia, something is really wrong with that kid, he went from stud to wuss in such a short time. Morneau at least has an excuse. So they have 2 guys that eat up so much salary and got nothing out of them.

We can also thank those chodes for sending Delmon Young to Detroit, their streak started when they got Young, and he was red hot with them

You mean the Twins' GM wasn't able to foresee such a thing? He should be fired for offering that big contract to Mauer!

Mauer had just won an MVP award... Rios was being put on waivers with 96 million remaining on a contract...

Totally the same thing.

Uh, I was comparing Mauer to Dunn. You know, a guy who was a consistent power hitter the past 6 or 7 years with a high amount of walks? Up until this year, at least.

Mauer consistently hit over 300 which helped his high OBP... he was a good all around hitter... Dunn ONLY hit for power and took walks...

Dunn has always struck out a ton and walked a ton. those two things didnt change this year.

Mauer was also a 26 year old coming off an MVP season at Catcher when they gave him that boat load of cash... Dunn was 5 years older and has never finished in the top 20 for MVP voting in any season...

Mauer was an all star 4 of 5 years before signing his contract.... Dunn made the all star team once in his career.... 8 years before we gave him his contract.

There is no comparison between the two deals...

No way you can blame KW for Dunn, the guy went to **** overnight. I mean, he has hit 30-40 homers a year for over 10 years, no way anyone expected him to do this. I praised KW cause I did not think we would put the money out for Dunn. Not his fault. Plus he tried real hard for Adrian Gonzalez (I read a BA article that said the Sox just about out bid the BoSox for him), and then we looked for Victor Martinez and for some reason he went to Detroit, I think we thought we had him. Either of them come instead of Dunn and we win the division.

Not blaming him for it... nor am i giving him credit.

Credit goes to JR for opening check book, KW didnt come out of his own pocket to go sign him.

Comparing giving that kinda money to dunn vs mauer though is silly... mauer was in a class of his own when he got his contract... and a LOT younger.

Mauer played a position on the field and there was talk of him being the best catcher ever.  Dunn was signed as a DH.  Not comparable monitarily.

Regarding Dunn.  I think you always take a chance when you ask a guy to change leagues.  There have just been too many examples of people who were never the same.

Griffey
Dunn
Beltran
I'll even throw Thome in there, he was never what the Phillies expected him to be.

They can be compared for the simple fact that just like every GM would want Mauer on their team, every GM would also want an Adam Dunn on their team. No one saw Mauer hitting only 3 HR's this year and not playing much, or whatever the case turned into for him. And every single baseball expert has been mystified about Dunn this year.

No one in baseball could have foreseen this type of season from him. No one. Yet there are fans calling for KW's head for signing Dunn. Listen, KW has made plenty of mistakes that he can be blamed for. Dunn is not one of them. He could not in any way, shape or form predict this would happen. Just like the Twins' GM with Mauer.

And of course the guy KW really wanted, Adrian Gonzalez, is having an MVP-type season in Boston.  Figures. It's only hitters the Sox sign that have trouble switching leagues.

I'm not calling for his head for signing dunn... Its the other 100 or so moronic moves over the last decade. enough is enough.

I'm just berry barry fed up with his ability to put together a decent team with all the resources he has at his disposal.

...or not switching leagues.

See: Rios, Alex; Swisher, Nick; Beckham, Gordon.

The common denominator?  Greg Walker.  I've been saying it for at least 2 years now.

Yep.  Walker needs to go first before KW or Guillen.  See if there's noticeable improvement under a new coaching staff before pinning this sorry-arse season on Kenny's deals or Ozzie's managing (both of which are also suspect, mind you).

Ozzie needs to go just for the fact he wouldn't launch his buddy Walker.  As JC alluded to earlier, the writing's been on the wall for awhile.

This entire organization is loyal to a fault.  Fire them all.

That would be fun.

I'd like to keep Don Cooper, though.

Ah luv Coop, but the new guy in charge should be free to make his own hiring decisions - sans the Sodfather, of course.

No need to fire Harold or Joey or Coxie or even Walker or Coop either. Their contracts run out. None of them have contracts for next year. Ozzie is the only one with a contract for next year and he is fi-fi-ing for an extension
