Actually, German Americans are most densely settled in the traditional "German belt" of Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.

In 1890 there were large numbers of German born immigrants in the states of New York (499,000), Illinois (338,000) and Minnesota (117,000). . .It was a matter of happenstance that American railroad interests were advertising for settlers to move to the Minnesota Territory, and later State of Minnesota, from 1854 into the 1870′s. This is why so many German-Americans now live in the Minnesota area.

More than 60% of the immigrants of this time came from Germany, and yes, Norway and Sweden (both of whom you chose to stereotype with your lutefisk reference).

You'll probably want to research the basis for your little quips before you cavalierly toss them out here.

Thereby totally disproving Jeter's claim.  Always nice to see someone give him what he gives out.

Twins are thoroughly hemhorraging, aren't they?  If they keep it up, Gardy's going to be next to Pierre in that long line at the Department of Labor.

I can sterotype about lutefisk all I want JohnJeter.  I ate it on Christmas Even for 35+ years.  My mother went to her grave swearing it tasted like lobster.

Black-Red-Gold wasn't adopted until the Weimar Republic of 1919.  The German Empire (1871-1918) flag was Black-White-Red.

Love the process of making it. The Father of The Mother of JohnJeter (JohnJeter the Elder, as he is commonly referred to) would tell me about getting up in the middle of the night to "change the water". Limpa bread and Swedish sausage and Bond-Ost cheese are good though. . .but I feel like we've covered this before.

Thereby totally disproving Jeter's claim.  Always nice to see someone give him what he gives out.

Hhaha, yeah, I'll just slink away in shame after that scathing dissection of historical inaccuracies and  flawed reasoning.

HAH!  We just all piled into the station wagon and drove in from the suburbs to to some small market in Chicago to pick up our Christmas Eve dinner - it was always wrapped in that brown butcher paper.

Then they started carrying it at Dominick's and half the wonder of the whole thing was gone.  It slowly continued to chip away after that.

That's what everyone here keeps saying, yet they keep winning no matter who they play.

They've been pretty quiet lately, Shoe. Funny isn't it??  The cubs are just as bad as the Sox right now. I turned the game on briefly last night to see what the score was and it was perfect timing. They were walking the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher and the pitcher inadvertently knocks in 3 runs to tie the game. That's karma for ya.

That's why I hate NL baseball and the no-DH rule. Pitcher on the mound is in a jam with the #8 hitter coming up? No problem, just work around him to get to the usually weak hitting pitcher. Yeah, that's great baseball. Takes a lot of thinking too!

Get this -- the Twins are "streaking":

http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=310519111&teams=minnesota-twins-vs-oakland-athletics

Three wins after a nine-game losing streak, that's a bit far-fetched, no?  Sox are 9-3 in their last twelve, so I guess they're "en fuego" in ESPN-ese?
