I thought he had potential, not surprised except we gave up on him quickly.

Sosa is a condescending freak.  However part of this made laugh, leave it to the Brits to mess “Stick Boy” up with the version that played for the Chicago National League ball club

Kind words about Ozzie Guillen and Kenny Williams in this Escobar article in St Paul paper

I'd rather have Mike Trout in CF but nine years ago KW & Doug Laumann thought drafting Jared Mitchell two picks ahead of this generation's Mickey Mantle was the better move.

(interesting side note) a Q&A with Laumann days after that 2009 draft is still available on the Sox website.  Can't believe they haven't scrubbed it by now as it was an awful Sox draft class that Laumann was happy with. Maybe he was happy with it since he was able to pick three White Sox employees' kids (Kenny Williams' son, Harold Baines' son and Larry Monroe's son) in the 2009 draft. Josh Phegley ended up being their "best" pick. Still smh that KW and Laumann are still employed by the organ-I-zation. One of Jerry:s faults is he is too loyal to the screwups he employs.

from Laumann's Q&A:

Quote

What made the club decide to pick Jared Mitchell, and how high is his ceiling?

Mitchell S.
Peoria, IL

I would have to say the biggest reason is his athleticism. He possesses the tools that cannot be taught, the main one being game-changing type of speed. Speed is the only tool in the game that you can use both offensively and defensively, and hopefully we see him using his tools in a White Sox uniform very soon. Jared has a very high ceiling that he will hopefully begin to develop soon.

Mitchell was the #6 hitter in the LSU lineup, I thought that said it all.

Johnny Field claimed by the Twinkies. We must have passed on him, would rather had him in CF than the guys we are throwing out there. Oh well.

for a 26-year old, being in your third organization in less than a month is not a good sign for your long term MLB career chances. Especially when it's not on the major league level and you were twice DFA'd. Johnny needs to catch on fire for the next three weeks or so or Japan or, sad to say, an independent league may end up being his next destination within the year.  I hope he finished his degree in the off-seasons since he left the University of Arizona after his junior year for pro ball five years ago.

as to the twinkies, thanks for waiving Daniel Palka.  He's turned into Schwarber without the over-the-top hype.

He's more Davidson then Schwarber... but a nice get for the time being.

As usual, no run support.  It's not Q's fault the Cubs didn't score 8 runs for him! ;D
